@oralloy,
Just put a picture of Trump on them and call them "Trump Respirators". They'll voluntarily go to the end of the line.

Wrong again. It is a fact that progressives condemned Mr. Trump's travel ban and called it racist.

If you find it insulting to be labeled a progressive, then perhaps you should consider not being a progressive.

A good start on the road to abandoning progressivism would be if you stopped trying to justify atrocities.

Once again you are trying to violate the First Amendment for fun. Why do you hate America and the Constitution?

@glitterbag,
Don't be so goofy. Saying that progressives are wrong to maliciously convict innocent people of imaginary crimes does not violate the First Amendment.

The only people who hate America and the Constitution are progressives and Islamic terrorists.

No he isn't. You are trying to gaslight him, your argument has 0 merit. You should know better. He is much smarter than you.

Yes; yes they are. Your president did no different to any other western nation, and the current statistics regarding deaths from COVID19 in the US of A, are actually better (lesser) than other western nations.

Quote:
I live in the US, and live under our laws.

Then you'd be aware that US means United States, and health issues are state issues. A health epidemic threat requires a united effort by all governors of all states, and does not come down to decisions by just the executive branch of government.

To suggest it is, is to demonstrate a shallow grasp on the laws of your lands.

Whatever you wish to do about your ex- leader is up to you.

Parliament has been suspended here, so effectively we have a form of martial law, with the various reservists now falling under the control of the Home Affairs minister, and his federal police.

This is unprecedented in our short history as a nation, and totally unwarranted, considering the tiny number of cases, and less than twenty deaths.

WaPo and the NYT have been and remain newspapers of record because they have wide ranging reliable sources and they fact check, neither of which the rabid right screeds of opinion you cite do or have.

It's interesting to notice how many of the articles the righties quote on this site are simply secondary criticism of stories originally from the WaPo, NYT and other mainstream sources. They don't have actual reporters; they only "report" on information provided by real journalists in the MSM.

National emergencies and disasters are handled by the federal government. It's much more efficient than trying to coordinate each individual state government to address a common problem which extends across state boundaries.

Thanks for that. Direct any criticisms you have at congress.

Pelosi dragged her feet for a week, but people still seem to think it's down to your president to do the hard yards.

Sure, but I'm not letting Trump off the hook either. He's been terrible.

A week is not a long time — this was a two trillion dollar bill. It takes a certain amount of time to draw it up, it takes time for lawmakers to look at the provisions. Had Pelosi simply given a green light to McConnell's Senate bill, it would have been been a giant slush fund for large corporations. See here.

You seem to be very complimentary of Trump's "leadership". Don't be afraid to look at his performance more critically. It's actually pretty amazing. He's just trying to stay relevant, changing his story day by day, with one eye on the opinion polls and the other on his audience ratings. See here.

Here's what the rest of us are seeing.
Quote:
Every time the country faces a crisis, real or perceived, there is a rush in Congress to pass massive bills that go far beyond responding to the matter at hand. These phonebook-sized (if I can use an anachronism) emergency acts are too long and detailed for any legislator to read and fully comprehend, but you can bet they are stuffed with gimmicks, giveaways, sweetheart deals and ill-advised policies with no bearing on the crisis itself.

And, of course, an attempt to rig the next election;

Quote:
Perhaps the most troubling sections of the bill are under the rubric ‘‘American Coronavirus/COVID–19 Election Safety and Security” or ‘‘ACCESS” Act. This section would impose requirements on states for early voting, voting by mail, required mailing of absentee ballots to everyone, ballot harvesting (i.e., having third parties deliver absentee ballots), online voter registration, same-day registration and other practices which undermine confidence in the integrity of the ballot. In these days of increasing threats to election security we should be moving rapidly back to in-person paper ballots, but this bill would be a radical step in the wrong direction.

But, it is a desperate time for the democrat party, so I guess they're going all out to see what they can get out of the bill.

Quote:

In these days of increasing threats to election security we should be moving rapidly back to in-person paper ballots, but this bill would be a radical step in the wrong direction.

Not at all. He's clearly the underdog in the eyes of many on this thread, who attack him regularly, and often without justification. The stats aren't showing he's let the public down at all.

If anything, the opposition has.

@Builder,

Quote:

As the Senate debates were hitting a wall, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) introduced a Democratic proposal from the House. This 1400-page bill was explicitly not a bipartisan bill, and was pretty clearly intended to outline a Democratic vision for the country against that of McConnell’s Senate Republicans. This is what pundits on the right are citing as evidence the Democrats were making extreme demands for passage of the larger coronavirus bill (for example, it provided that internet companies could not cut off service for those who could not pay during the coronavirus, a provision that got twisted in right-wing emails to a demand for “free internet”), but there was no actual attempt to pass this bill. Instead, the Senate negotiators began to talk in earnest, and the Democrats got their primary concern taken care of in the Senate bill: it would have oversight of the $500 billion fund for businesses. An independent inspector general and an oversight board would oversee the dispersal of funds.
