Attkisson lists false claims made by Jeremy Peters in New York Times article

Quote:
New York Times and Peters publish multiple false statements
At least two subjects have demanded retractions, corrections
Peters changes Attkisson quote to suit a false narrative
Peters objects to reporting of factually correct, complete list of U.S. coronavirus deaths

That is the NYT. The truth is not important. Stoking division and hate are important. And this reporter is just another hack trying to capitalize on the hate for Trump with, what else, a book coming out.

Get a load of this one guys. The Trump people toss in a ringer from OANN to do propaganda during his press briefing. It's absolutely blatant as propaganda. See the video here https://talkingpointsmemo.com/live-blog/white-house-coronavirus-task-force-briefing

@Walter - re your last post on Remdesiver, a physician wrote into TPM on this matter
Quote:
A TPM reader who is a physician and on a medical school faculty is watching the Trump’s ongoing press conference at the White House:

Quote:
Today’s presser is unbelievable. I am an MD and member of our hospital executive administration in the thick of Covid preparation.

Remdesivir is currently an infusion drug only- meaning you have to be in a hospital hooked to an IV. The ongoing clinical trials are all in hospitalized patients.

The enrolled patients are those with evidence of lung disease, meaning that some damage is already present. There is no way that the infusion will ever be a practical solution for the vast majority of infected patients (not in hospitals).

There is an oral preparation, but it is only now being tried in Phase 1 studies, meaning being determined if it is even safe for human consumption?

I certainly hope that they do not rush the oral drug to market without even knowing if it is safe. Think Thalidomide, COX inhibitors, Gepants.

We are at least a year away from effective treatment, unless some miracle cure in existing drugs is identified.

I know people are scared, but there was a lot of false hope today….
Best solution is prevention, aggressive public health measures, handwashing, physical distancing.

Be safe.
TPM

We really need to recognize how Trump is going to go all out to save himself and we cannot fall prey to hopeful notions he won't do ANYTHING in trying.

Rep. Don Young (R-AK) poked fun at the fatal COVID-19 outbreak and dismissed the notion of taking cautionary measures to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.

Young made the comments during a meeting on Friday with senior citizens and members of the state’s Chamber of Commerce in Palmer, Alaska, according to the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman. The comments were first reported this week.

“This ‘beer virus’ I call it – they call it a coronavirus, I call it a beer virus, how do you like that? – it attacks our senior citizens,” he said. “Now I’m one of you. I still say we have to as a nation, as a state to go forth with our everyday activities.”

We also need to recognize how many Republicans and Trump followers are doing and saying exactly the wrong things simply because of their culture of distrust in science, expertise and media. These idiots are getting people killed and they are going to get many more killed.

We need to recognize that the Left is exploiting this virus to damage Trump and they do not give a **** about the dying except that they increase the number of deaths. From the very start their ghoulish behavior has been more than obvious. The time for manufactured blame is over.

Recording shows Senate intel chair warned of coronavirus disruption in private weeks ahead of time

Weeks before President Donald Trump declared the coronavirus pandemic a national emergency, Sen. Richard Burr privately offered a grim prognosis for the outbreak while previewing some of the massive disruptions soon to come, according to a previously unreported recording obtained by NPR.

In the recording, which NPR reports came from the North Carolina Republican's remarks at a private luncheon late last month, Burr said that the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak "is probably more akin to the 1918 pandemic," which killed an estimated 50 million worldwide.

Democrat Dark Money Groups To Spend Millions Politicizing Wuhan Flu

Quote:
A network of Democratic non-profits and super PACs are funneling millions of dollars toward advertisements in key swing states, with the intent of politicizing the Wuhan coronavirus crisis and blaming the pandemic on President Donald Trump.

The Washington Post reported the group Pacronym is planning to spend $5 million on ads attacking Trump’s response to the pandemic. Pacronym, whose board of directors includes former Barack Obama campaign manager David Plouffe, said its ads will target key 2020 swing states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Arizona.

Like the other lies many, many people will see right through this bullshit. But the lies will continue and with that kind of desperation the lies will be exposed faster and more Democratic voters will stay home because their party disgusts them.

@coldjoint,
Nonsense. trump fucked around for six weeks downplaying and ignoring the severity of coronavirus. He disbanded the pandemic crisis response team. Fatal bad judgment on his part that's letting people die. Such incompetence cnnot be tolerated in the presidency for four more years. Vokte him out. Lock him up.

Trump keeps saying ‘nobody’ could have foreseen coronavirus. We keep finding out about new warning signs.
Quote:
As President Trump has come around to the severity of the coronavirus, he has increasingly fought back against criticism of his administration’s response by suggesting the crisis was basically inconceivable.

“I would view it as something that just surprised the whole world,” he said Thursday at his daily briefing, adding later that it was “uncharted territory” and saying, “Nobody knew there would be a pandemic or epidemic of this proportion.”

“So there’s never been anything like this in history. There’s never been,” he said. “And nobody’s ever seen anything like this.”

He added Wednesday: “Nobody ever saw numbers like this even with regard to testing.”

“I just think this is something … that you can never really think is going to happen,” he said March 6.

“It’s an unforeseen problem,” he added the same day. “What a problem. Came out of nowhere.”

Even as Trump offered his latest such comments Thursday, though, reporting was again fleshing out just how many warnings there were and how foreseen such a problem was.

Quote:
The chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee warned a small group of well-connected constituents three weeks ago to prepare for dire economic and societal effects of the coronavirus, according to a secret recording obtained by NPR.

The remarks from U.S. Sen. Richard Burr were more stark than any he had delivered in more public forums.

On Feb. 27, when the United States had 15 confirmed cases of COVID-19, President Trump was tamping down fears and suggesting that the virus could be seasonal.

"It's going to disappear. One day, it's like a miracle. It will disappear," the president said then, before adding, "it could get worse before it gets better. It could maybe go away. We'll see what happens."

Like they did about the Parkside shooter? Bureaucracy is slow, and inaction the disease they are afflicted with. No blame belongs to Trump. It is projection, and expecting the man they deemed to incompetent to even do the job it is pretty dumb on their part to expect it of him now. Can't have it both ways.

Based on the evidence available, Trump did no different to other western nations, including ours, and to date, has done more than Britain, and Australia, to prevent the spread of the virus.

What you're failing to comprehend (or acknowledge) is that the US of A is actually 50+ micro nations (you know, the United States OF America) and it requires a very concerted effort by all of the states, to achieve a social exercise of such magnitude.

Boris Johnson is going for the "herd immunity" approach, meaning he's willing to sacrifice a lot of elderly lives, to achieve a result, much like they're doing in Italy.

Scot Morrison, our excuse for a PM, has dodged calls for their closure, to keep schools open, knowing he lacks the balls to call it like he should, because so many parents rely upon childcare, or school, so they can both hold down jobs.

And while people can't fly out of the nation, they can return from any and all ports of call, to come back to Australia, albeit to enter quarantine (often of their own design) when returning.

Not sure which nation/s you're relying upon, for your clearly biased assessments, but do some digging on Obama's tardy response to H1N1's spread, if that kind of thinking is possible, in what's left of your brains.
