“And again, when you have 15 people — and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero — that’s a pretty good job we’ve done.” -- Donald Trump last week.

Dr. Nancy Messonnier, spokeswoman at the CDC, also confirmed that the agency had removed a tally on its website of how many people in the country had been tested or were suspected to have the virus, which has been widely criticized.

@Walter Hinteler,
You have Otto Von Bismark to thank for that (though I believe much of his "practical Christianity" legislation came later than 1861.)

Stocks Tumble After the Fed Cuts Rates: Live Markets Updates
Quote:

U.S. stocks drop and bond yields slide after Fed’s surprise cut.

The Federal Reserve delivered the emergency rate cut investors had been clamoring for at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The market rally that followed lasted about 15 minutes.

By the end of trading on Tuesday, stocks were sharply lower and bond yields had plummeted to previously unthinkable lows, suggesting that investors think there’s little the Federal Reserve can do to keep the coronavirus from hammering the U.S. economy.

The S&P 500 fell about 2.8 percent, undoing much of Monday’s 4.6 percent surge. The yield on 10-year Treasury notes dropped below 1 percent.

@tsarstepan,
Definitely not an area where I know much at all. But so much is shutting down around the world it's rather worrying.

On the other hand, there's a big wind coming off the ocean right now, hitting the bluff below our place and the local eagles - 6 or 7 - are apparently less concerned than me. They're having a delightful time it seems.

Asked what should happen with the coronavirus and patients who don't have insurance, Trump says, "We're looking at that whole situation." Asked "how so," he says, "There are many people without insurance, and we're looking at that situation for those people."

Asked how much $ should go to hospitals for the uninsured, Trump says, "We’re going to look at the uninsured, because they have a big problem. And we’re going to look at the uninsured people that, you know, this came as a surprise to all of us...It shows what can happen in life."

@blatham,
Worry is a wasted emotion for things such as the stock market. Especially if, as you say, you don't know too much. All worry will do is ruin your sleep and put deep creases in your forehead.

The eagles aren't fretting over the market...learn from them!

Former Rep. Duncan Hunter, who has pleaded guilty to misusing campaign funds to finance affairs and other personal stuff, says the case against him should be dismissed because two of the prosecutors had previously been present at a Hillary Clinton fundraiser.

Is Trump slashing military funding? No, he's trying to increase funding while at the same time working to end our military involvement around the world. I thought you leftists were all about bringing home the troops and not fighting around the world?

During his visit to the National Institutes of Health on Tuesday afternoon, President Donald Trump touted the apparently excellent relationship he now has with Taliban co-founder and deputy Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, with whom he’d spoken on the phone several hours earlier.

“The relationship is very good that I have with the Mullah and we had a good, long conversation today,” he told reporters. “They want to cease the violence, they’d like to cease violence also.”

Probably prudent now for the Secret Service to put a tap on the phones of Frank Gaffney and Liz Cheney.

A memorandum from the Georgia Attorney General’s office confirmed this week what many suspected all along.

AG officials said in the memo that they were recommending closing the investigation into sensational 2018 claims by then-Secretary of State Brian Kemp that Democrats had tried to hack Georgia’s election system.

The memo said that the investigation had failed to reveal “any evidence” supporting a prosecution against the person who appeared to be the target of Kemp’s claim.

You are confusing the Obama admin with the Trump admin. It was the Trump admin who was wire tapped, why are you going to push Obama actions on Trump?

@Sturgis,
His meaning is evident though he's stumbling to make coherent sentences. I suspect he is becoming seriously overwhelmed but some aspect of his character won't permit him to just shut up, climb down off the pedestal and let others more qualified represent the administration. And because he clearly believes he must control everything/everyone and be the Alpha, god knows what mistakes are going on out of view.
