Mr. Esper told commanders deployed overseas that they should check in before making decisions related to protecting their troops.

That is the way the military works. It does not mean they are not being protected. They gave that responsibility to people that take orders. Thanks for your negative input.

Fox News, making it's audience stupider every day

Quote:
Fox News’ Jesse Watters on The Five went on a riff against the novel coronavirus billing himself as impenetrable to the virus, stating that you can overcome the illness with the “power of positive thinking.”

The segment began with the Fox News co-host stating, “Yes, you want to know how I feel about the coronavirus, Juan [Williams]? If I get it, I will beat it.”

Watters then continued by stating that he both rode next to an “Asian guy” on the New York City subway and ordered Chinese food, as to tout that he is not nervous about contracting the deadly illness.

So? What is a matter with that? You just want people nervous and confused at a chronic level.

Anti-government ideology is how you get to the bestest outcomes
Quote:
The Trump administration last year moved to roll back regulations aimed at preventing infections from spreading in nursing homes, a decision that is facing renewed criticism for endangering the elderly amid the coronavirus outbreak.

@Setanta,
Yes. And if this virus gets really bad, Fox's audience will be decimated. You and I too, of course, but I'm not sure that's a deal-breaker.

TPM notes....
Quote:
A longtime reader who is a CEO in tech manufacturing describes the knock-on effects of COVID-19:

Quote:
The disruption to our supply chain is … just bewildering. It may be that it is massive. It may be that it is just bizarre? But at the moment, there is just confusion.

Dozens of our suppliers are having trouble just getting any actionable information to us. Some are telling us “soon” for when we can expect information. Others are telling us they can’t reach their suppliers.

Beyond that, air freight from Asia is now in chaos. In the belly of every 747, 777 and 767 flight from China to LAX are pallets upon pallets of high value input raws which go into products here.

And we are on the phone with out customers telling them the same thing our suppliers are telling us: “We are working on it.”

None of our products themselves are end-user complete. We are a Tier2 Supplier. … Our customers are other companies who are also mostly unheard of, who are themselves Tier1 suppliers … to large Dow and NASDAQ companies you have heard of, who put them into big finished goods people take for granted.

You are very, very, very right that this disruption is … unprecedented.

And the biggest thing right now is … no one down at our level has any idea when it will end. So we are doing the industry equivalent of project triage while hoping we will get a better understanding sometime soon.

One of the reasons there's such long lines in Texas is that state closed 750 polling places after Supreme Court gutted Voting Rights Act

50 counties that gained most Black & Latino residents between 2012-2018 closed 542 polling sites

Did I mention how much I hate these bastards.

Having the ability to protect ourselves is hardly a waste.

I suspect that you'd not enjoy being enslaved by a hostile power.

I thought the 2nd Amendment (and pistol grips) took care of that.

Weapons do not become more affordable if we use them to equip the militia. If we were to resume production of F-22 fighter jets, they won't be any cheaper if we send them to the Air National Guard instead of to the Air Force.

One of the fortunate traits of friendly powers is, they don't try to enslave you.

I wouldn’t trust any of them. Hence: The Bill of Rights.

They didn’t have duck hunting in mind when writing up that list.
