My political theory is that the political spectrum isn't linear; ie, left-right. Instead it is circular with centrist/moderates at 6 o'clock, progressives at 3/9 and radicals at 12. Lash is not a progressive, she is a radical.

I don't believe Sanders is by any means a "radical". He would probably be at 2. tRump is flat out 11:59 and Lash can easily fluctuate from 11:58 to 12:02 as her heart desires.

Let me also add that I do not believe this spectrum is not flat; but instead 3 dimensional, a globe. How exactly to define positioning is difficult. It allows for the multi faceted, complex relationship of political beliefs.

You're ridiculously over-read in the tiny universe of your myopic universe bubble. Illiterate in everything else.

I read it. The bulk of the money comes from what they glean off of Bernie's outsized donations. The rest is from corporate donors trying to get anyone elected but Bernie.

And, they .... shall.. not.. pass.

Referencing Margaret Sullivan's column today that I linked earlier on the disappearance of the WH press secretary briefings...

@jayrosen_nyu
The briefing died because it became unlivable. It became unlivable because of who Trump is and what he demands. Try to game it out. Imagine the briefing room as it was. Now add Trump's claims that four embassies were under threat. There's nowhere for her to go with that.

@blatham,
You are a low information political commentator.

Low information voters are discussed routinely by talking head political consultants.

The fact that you don't know this proves that you are low information.

Low Info Voter
Low information voter. Low information voters, also known as misinformation voters, are people who may vote yet are generally poorly informed about issues. The phrase is mainly used in the United States and has become popular since the mid-1990s.

In an age of information overload, most people choose ignorance for their bliss.

Politically, the left has moved so close to the middle, it's getting tougher to differentiate right from left.

Trump lite is the future of the Democratic Party.

Trumpist Republicans will hold the White House for a good 20 years, but one day Democrats will be able to return to power by expelling progressives from their party and nominating a Trump-lite candidate to be their standard bearer.

No one ever gets the presidential nomination (for a major party at least) without coming first or second in New Hampshire. So after New Hampshire it's going to be down to two on the Democratic side, plus Trump on the Republican side.

Feel free? OK.

I find that you are pretty ignorant about pretty much everything. You just quote other people that you believe are intellectuals to try to make it appear that you are also an intellectual.

So "low information" fits you quite well. You do certainly regurgitate a lot of information. But you never seem to have much comprehension of what you regurgitate.

Lash, on the other hand, does tend to be informed about what she talks about. She does make an occasional mistake about something now and then, but she is far from an empty vessel that is devoid of comprehension.

So "low information" does not fit her very well at all.

blatham wrote:
There are fine reasons people here don't trust you, Lash.

I for one am not wasting a moment's effort worrying about whether she does or doesn't hold the views that she espouses.

So there is no distrust being directed towards her from my quarter.

They recently made some noise about actually going forward with impeachment sometime next week. It's hard to tell.

If they do go forward with impeachment, the Republicans should do their best to hold the trial right in the run up to the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary so that Sanders and Warren are not able to campaign in person.

Right-to-work laws hampered organizing in the South.

Right to work laws do not actually hamper unions from organizing. They only prevent unions from compelling membership from people who don't want to join.

What we need is not to repeal right to work laws, but to pass new laws that allow workers to form a union even without the support of other workers.

That way people who want to form a union could do so. And people who don't want to join a union will not be forced to do so.

The end result would be that probably every workplace would have at least a small union. Whether that union becomes big or stays small would depend on how happy the workers are.

That would be fair, in my book.

Dragging it out like this shows callous disregard for due process.

Trump Brags About Serving Up American Troops to Saudi Arabia for Nothing More Than Cash

Conservative Rep. Justin Amash, who was a Republican until recently, responded to Trump’s remarks, saying, “He sells troops”

Quote:
During President Donald Trump’s interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Friday, the president spoke about his positive relationship with Saudi Arabia, including how the country is paying to use American troops. Conservative Rep. Justin Amash (I-Mich.), who until recently was a Republican, responded to Trump’s remarks in a tweet, saying, “He sells troops.”

“Saudi Arabia is paying us for [our troops]. We have a very good relationship with Saudi Arabia,” Trump said. “I said, listen, you’re a very rich country. You want more troops? I’m going to send them to you, but you’ve got to pay us. They’re paying us. They’ve already deposited $1 billion in the bank.”

He sells troops.

“We have a very good relationship with Saudi Arabia—I said, listen, you’re a very rich country. You want more troops? I’m going to send them to you, but you’ve got to pay us. They’re paying us. They’ve already deposited $1B in the bank.” pic.twitter.com/rc1f7heyCP

— Justin Amash (@justinamash) January 11, 2020

Trump continued, talking about U.S. troops as, essentially, mercenaries. “We are going to help them, but these rich countries have to pay for it. South Korea gave us $500 million… I said, ‘You gotta help us along. We have 32,000 soldiers in South Korea protecting you from North Korea. You’ve gotta pay.'”

Amash has been a vocal critic of the president and voted in favor of impeachment. He has made this criticism of Trump before. On Meet the Press in October, Amash said Trump’s use of the troops has broken his campaign promise to bring them home. “There are people who support the president, who believe things he says, but it’s pretty clear he’s not bringing home the troops. He’s just moving them to other parts of the Middle East,” Amash said.

He added, “He’s moving troops back into Iraq, he’s moving other troops into Saudi Arabia and using our forces almost as mercenaries, paid mercenaries who are going to come in, as long as Saudi Arabia pays us some money, it’s good to go.”

Britain has condemned the arrest of the UK ambassador to Iran as a "flagrant violation of international law".

Rob Macaire was detained after attending a vigil for those who died when Iranian military shot down a passenger plane on Wednesday.

He left when it turned into a protest before being arrested and accused of helping to organise the demonstrations.

In a tweet, Mr Macaire denied taking part in protests and Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab condemned his arrest.

Mr Macaire said he was attending the vigil because it was "normal to want to pay respects", adding that some of the victims were British.

The ambassador added: "Arresting diplomats is of course illegal, in all countries."

Protesters had taken to the streets in Iran's capital, Tehran, to vent anger at officials, calling them liars for having denied shooting down a Ukrainian passenger plane.
