So, were I to make a proper response to this, would probably be reported and removed. I would have made this about someones mom, but decided to keep it at an adult level.

Donald Trump Not Causing Nuclear War Is What Now Qualifies as Good News in America, Hooray?

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/01/sure-the-president-is-donald-trump-but-at-least-today-he-seemed-to-stop-escalating-his-pointless-war.html

He no longer beats his wives or grabs women by the pu**y anymore either (we think?). However, what does America do if the Hague ask us to turn him over for war crimes? Dilemma, uhhh, no - let them have him, he's as guilty as hell!

That is the normal nature of a progressive. That's why the voters are going to keep Republicans in charge of the White House for at least the next 16 years.

And even when 2036 rolls around and we'll have had 20 straight years or Republican rule, the Democrats still will not have any shot at winning unless they purge progressives from their party and nominate a sensible moderate -- sort of a Trump lite -- to be their standard bearer.

Do you really know how "Iranians" feel about Soleimani ? If so can you provide some confirming reference for what you wrote here?

My standby method for trying to determine what's happening in foreign locations is to rely on reporters and journalists, especially ones who are specialists or ones who are there on the ground. In recent days I have listened to live coverage of the funeral procession and everyone has described scenes which truly resemble people in mourning for a beloved national hero. Now it's possible that these are all crisis actors hired from the sets of fake mass shootings in the USA but that would seem a bit impractical.

Here's a good summary from the BBC — it's only about 20 minutes long and it makes a good case for Soleimani as a generally beloved and respected national figure:

Why was Qasem Soleimani killed?

@hightor,
The fact that the crowds at his funeral are the largest since the death of Khomenei says it all.

If Gob insist on believing Fox propaganda it would explain why he was so comprehensively thrashed in Viet Nam.

The odds that Trump’s reckless provocative bluff would work without a massive escalation were infinitesimal to me.

It appears —at this very early stage— he may have beaten the odds.

If this holds, we will be hearing about this during the election. It could make the difference.

Trump was aided by the Iranians' decision to effectively pull their punches when retaliating. They gave him the option of not retaliating — it would have been different if they lobbed a few missiles into Tel Aviv or assassinated Dick Cheney. High tech weaponry is useful in that one can tailor one's response and hit back without provoking a next step and risking further escalation.

@Lash,
Like Kim jung Un (the much reported love affair with whom has more recently shown some need for counselling), it aint over till its over.
Remember, itd be great for Iran were our allies sitting this one out and letting us waffle about.

United States right-back Sergino Dest has left Ajax's training camp in Qatar because he did "not feel comfortable", the Dutch club have said.

It comes amid rising political tensions between the US and Qatar's neighbour Iran.

Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani was killed at Baghdad airport in an air strike ordered by US president Donald Trump.

Iran retaliated by firing missiles at air bases housing US forces in Iraq.

On Saturday, US Soccer postponed a men's training camp in Qatar - which will host the 2022 World Cup - because of "developing tensions" in the region.

Dest, 19, was born in the Dutch city of Almere but has an American father and chose to represent the US in October. He has won three caps.

"Sergino Dest has asked if he could leave Ajax's training camp in Qatar," Ajax said in a statement. "He didn't feel comfortable. Ajax understands his request and has responded to it."

Dest will return to Amsterdam to train with Ajax's reserve team.

@Lash,
It's not just Iran. An ex Iraqi minister was interviewed last night. The murder of Qasem Soleimani was an enormous violation of Iraqi sovereignty. The Iraqi parliament has voted to expel the imperialists.

The Americans are in Iraq under suffrage and it won't be long before Iraqi militia, jihadis or ordinary Iraqis take action to resist the occupation.

@snood,
Do you think they were on a heightened defense footing, preparing for US counterstrikes, and hadn't gotten notified about a civilian airliner in the air space? I can't see them intentionally doing this, unlike the Iranian airliner our navy shot down twenty years ago.

We did not intentionally down a passenger jet.
