Precisely. Chomsky makes no claim about which route forward will best serve us in getting rid of Trump.

Chomsky got very rich by hating this country. I do not know who would take his advice that loved this country about what to do. I wonder how often he reads Howard Zinn.

Look, the case has been made. Almost everything in the impeachment hearings this week fleshed out and backed up the charge that President Trump muscled Ukraine for political gain. The pending question is what precisely the House and its Democratic majority will decide to include in the articles of impeachment, what statutes or standards they will assert the president violated.

As to impeachment itself, the case has been so clearly made you wonder what exactly the Senate will be left doing. How will they hold a lengthy trial with a case this clear?

John Solomon replies to Vindman. He lists 28 facts in a reply to this about his work
Quote:
Here are his exact words:

“I think all the key elements were false,” Vindman testified.

Think we will hear from Vindman, Solomon listed these facts so Vindman can try and disprove them. I say we will hear nothing from a high level useful idiot that happens to wear a uniform.

If you watched the testimony yesterday, you'll recall how outraged Nunes (and at least one other Republican member) was following Fiona Hill's statement.

Quote:
Trump Just Repeated the Russian Conspiracy Theory Republicans Deny He Believes

Yesterday, Fiona Hill testified that President Trump and his allies have circulated “a fictional narrative that has been perpetrated and propagated by the Russian security services themselves,” absolving Vladimir Putin of interference in the election by claiming Ukrainians, not Russian hackers, actually stole Democratic emails in 2016. Republicans indignantly denied the charge. Byron York called it a “willfully misleading statement.” Devin Nunes angrily replied, and the Trump War Room quickly posted a clip of his response on YouTube, headlined, “Devin Nunes Destroys Fiona Hill’s False Claim About Republicans Denying Russian Meddling.”

This morning, Trump gave an interview to Fox & Friends repeating the very theory Republicans so angrily denied he has ever promoted. As the friendly hosts looked on apprehensively, Trump began unspooling a wild theory he has mentioned before, and invoked on his phone call to Ukrainian president Zelensky. The theory posits that Ukrainians hacked Democratic emails, framed Russia, and kept the server they hacked to hide their crime. It fixates on the role of CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity firm that helped the FBI solve the crime.

Trump called CrowdStrike “a company owned by a very wealthy Ukrainian … why did they give it to a Ukrainian company?” None of this is true. CrowdStrike is not owned by Ukrainians. The FBI did examine the server. Ukrainians don’t have it. And Robert Mueller proved that Russian hackers carried out the email hack. An obviously concerned Steve Doocy, apparently aware that Trump was blowing up the defense Republicans had laid out the day before, asked, “Are you sure they have it?” Trump seemed sure...

@blatham,
Did they get to the fact the FBI trusted Crowdstrike to tell them about the Russian hack? Should that be left to a firm that the DNC hired? No, it should not be. Mueller's investigation was a sham just like this impeachment crap.

The Democrats' claim that they are above the law because "if anyone in power tries to have them investigated, it must be for political gain" is pretty absurd on the face of it.

And given the fact that the Democrats have been trying since day one to get Trump investigated for their own political gain, if they want to say that investigations for political gain are wrong, let's haul the entire Democratic Party off to jail.

It doesn't have to be for very long. It only needs to be just long enough to block Warren and Sanders from participating in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary.

So I guess that's the end of these claims that "Trump's pressure on Ukraine" was about his own political gain. He clearly genuinely believes that there is wrongdoing to investigate here.

This of course still leaves all of the Democratic investigations into Trump as being motivated solely for political gain. The sooner we outlaw the Democratic Party, the better off the country will be.

Shepard Smith speaks out after Fox News departure: Rips autocrats' 'garbage and lies'

By Bailey Vogt - The Washington Times - Friday, November 22, 2019

Shepard Smith made his first public comments Thursday after leaving his Fox News show in October, slamming “autocrats” for misleading the American people.

“Our belief a decade ago that the online revolution would liberate us now seems a bit premature, doesn’t it?” Mr. Smith said while emceeing the International Press Freedom Awards dinner, according to The New York Times.

“Autocrats have learned how to use those same online tools to shore up their power. They flood the world of information with garbage and lies, masquerading as news. There’s a phrase for that,” he said.

While he didn’t name anyone specifically, Mr. Smith could be alluding to President Trump.

The two of them had a public feud before Mr. Smith’s unexpected departure from Fox News Oct. 11th, where he’d been employed since 1996.

“Intimidation and vilification of the press is now a global phenomena,” he said. “We don’t have to look far for evidence of that.”

Mr. Smith said he would be making a $500,000 donation to the Committee to Protect Journalists to protect press freedom.

“We know that journalists are sometimes wary of being perceived as activists for some cause,” Smith said. “But press freedom is not the preserve of one political group or one political party. It’s a value embedded in our very foundational documents. Journalists need to join hands to defend it.”

'A new Emerson poll finds President Trump’s approval has increased in the last month with 48% approval and 47% disapproval, a bounce from 43% approval in the last Emerson National poll in October. Support for impeachment has flipped since October from 48% support with 44% opposing to now 45% opposed and 43% in support. The biggest swing is among Independents, who oppose impeachment now 49% to 34%, which is a reversal from October where they supported impeachment 48% to 39%.'

Apparently they are holding an investigation into the Biden/Burisma thing as if to justify Trump's actions of using his office as President to pressure the leader of Ukraine to investigate the Biden's and Burisma to promote his own interest in his reelection campaign. I note so far they are not going to try and investigate the wild 2026 Ukraine/DNC server theory.
