Yes, asking a foreign government for personal favors is wrong.

Don't be silly. The White House pressures foreign governments to do what they want all the time.

Don't count on that.

I know you'd like it if everyone let the Democrats get away with putting themselves above the law, but it's not going to happen.

If you ever manage to prove that Trump did something illegal, the Republicans will not remove him from office after the Democrats gave Bill Clinton a pass.

neptuneblue wrote:
Don't count on that either.

The vote was pretty clear. Zero Republican support for this farce, and some Democratic opposition to the farce.

neptuneblue wrote:
Speculation and wishful thinking does not make it so.

The results of the vote are neither speculation nor wishful thinking.

neptuneblue wrote:
If a Democratic President pulls the same illegal stunt as Trump, then, yes removing them from office is the right thing to do.

Trump hasn't committed any illegal stunt.

But if it is the right thing to do, why didn't the Democrats do it then? Bill Clinton committed multiple counts of obstruction and conspiracy to obstruct.

Even if Trump had actually committed some kind of crime, it's a bit late to complain about it now. You've already lost all moral standing to complain about Republican wrongdoing.

In the unlikely event that you ever manage to prove that Trump committed some sort of actual crime, just give him the same $25,000 fine that Bill Clinton got away with paying.

neptuneblue wrote:
However, since Democrats haven't put up a candidate as deceitful or corrupt as Trump, there really isn't anything to worry about.

The Democrats have already put up a candidate that is far worse than Trump. Bill Clinton committed multiple counts of obstruction and conspiracy to obstruct.

Trump on the other hand has not committed any crime at all.

Trump Taxes: Appeals Court Rules President Must Turn Over 8 Years of Tax Returns

A three-judge appeals panel said the president’s accounting firm had to comply with a subpoena.

A federal appeals panel on Monday said President Trump’s accounting firm must turn over eight years of his personal and corporate tax returns to Manhattan prosecutors, a setback for the president’s attempt to keep his financial records private.

But the tax returns are not likely to be handed over soon. Mr. Trump has fought vigorously to shield his tax returns, and the case appears headed to the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Trump had sought to block his accounting firm from releasing the tax returns to the Manhattan district attorney’s office. Prosecutors in the office are investigating the role of the president and his business in hush-money payments made to two women just before the 2016 presidential election.
The legal fight began in late August after the office of Mr. Vance, a Democrat, subpoenaed Mr. Trump’s accounting firm, Mazars USA, for his tax returns and those of his family business dating to 2011.

The office sought the records in connection with an investigation into whether any New York State laws were broken when Mr. Trump and his company, the Trump Organization, reimbursed the president’s former lawyer and fixer, Michael D. Cohen, for payments he made to the adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who claimed she had an affair with Mr. Trump. Mr. Cohen was also involved in money paid to Karen McDougal, a Playboy model who also said she had a relationship with Mr. Trump. The president has denied the relationships.

BREAKING NEWS
President Trump lost another round in his fight to keep his tax returns secret from Manhattan prosecutors as a federal court rejected his appeal.

So? How far away (time wise) will the USSC be taking this issue on?

@hightor,
I don't envy those troops. Must be the target of a lot of resentment after our abandoning the Kurds only to turn around and guard the oil. Shows/confirms what's important us; unfortunately.

@tsarstepan,
Probably drag it out as long as they can. I don't imagine the Supreme Court wants to get entangled in it, but, I guess they won't have a choice. I would be very surprised if they don't go Trump's way. After all, that is what the courts been stacked for republican's in order to do. We can't even pretend the supreme court is a separation of powers and not a political tool anymore.

SCOTUS does have a choice and this will be the 1st real test to see if they will be just or if we will have a possibility of revolution?

White House calls claim that Jared Kushner gave Saudi ruler permission to arrest Jamal Khashoggi before journalist was killed and dismembered 'false nonsense'

Okay, okay — it is the Daily Mail.

‘Seven whistleblowers’
And a story that — if true — could be deadly for Jared Kushner

Quote:
According to Cockburn’s source about the seven whistleblowers, there’s more. It is that Kushner (allegedly) gave the green light to MBS to arrest the dissident journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, who was later murdered and dismembered in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. A second source tells Cockburn that this is true and adds a crucial twist to the story. This source claims that Turkish intelligence obtained an intercept of the call between Kushner and MBS. And President Erdogan used it to get Trump to roll over and pull American troops out of northern Syria before the Turks invaded. A White House official has told the Daily Mail that this story is ‘false nonsense’. However, Cockburn hears that investigators for the House Intelligence Committee are looking into it. Who knows whether any of this is true…but Adam Schiff certainly seems to be smiling a lot these days.

In what way is the present situation in the Court any different from what existed just a few years ago, apart from the going in disposition of the majority of its members? Looks the same to me excepting only the majority outlook.

What Born-Again Kanye Might Do for America

I like what he has already done. Blasting the real racists who think Blacks have to vote a certain way because they are Black. He made it clear there is nothing more racist than saying your color controls your actions. Bad news for Democrats, good news for America.
Quote:
This is wokeness in the truest sense—being wide awake to the unique threats that our homes, families, and our very souls face in the modern world.

Kanye has always been ahead of the cultural curve. He’s been at the forefront of culture making for years. If he’s become disenchanted with the state of our culture, perhaps his millions of followers aren’t far behind.

If so, Kanye may just be the voice our culture needs to lead it out of its present dysfunction. He’s only 42. It will be exciting to watch.
