@Baldimo,
By them being held to a max of electoral votes and by many of the other states having a "winner take all" electoral vote, what would you call it when, during the presidential election, the votes in Calif are worth fractionally less than electoral votes in Nebraska.

NO crack, Its a fact!!

CA gets the same baseline EC votes that all states get, and then they have all of their reps to add to the mix. CA has 55 EC votes, Nebraska has 5. Baseline is an EC vote for each Senator and Representative.

What it sounds like you actually have a problem with is how the votes are given out during the EC. If you want some more fairness, each state can pass a law saying how they will hand out the votes. They could do the votes based on EC region. CO has 9 EC votes and they go to the winner, I'd rather seem them divided up where the votes are coming from.

No, you are on crack. The EC has worked just fine until Hillary lost, now the left wants to change the rules so they can win again.

@izzythepush,
Some details have changed.

Quote:
The lorry driver, named locally as Mo Robinson, 25, from the Portadown area of County Armagh, Northern Ireland, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Essex Police said the trailer arrived via ferry from Zeebrugge, Belgium, into Purfleet on the River Thames.

The ship docked in the Thurrock area shortly after 00:30, the force said.

It is believed the container and lorry then left the port together about 35 minutes later.

When Trey Goudy was leading the Benghazi hearings, those hearings were held in private behind closed doors with attendees limited. Remember that while reading this:
Quote:
Roughly two-dozen House Republicans on Wednesday stormed a closed-door deposition in secure House Intelligence Committee spaces to rail against the Democratic-led impeachment inquiry, a political stunt ratcheting up the GOP complaints about the process that threw the deposition into doubt.

The conservative lawmakers, led by Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, barged into the deposition and demanded they be allowed to see the closed-door proceedings.

A source in the room said that as the witness, Deputy Assistant Defense Secretary Laura Cooper, was sitting down to testify, the Republicans stormed through the room's three different doors. Rep. Bradley Byrne of Alabama was yelling at House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, but the California Democrat did not engage, the source said. Other Democrats, including Rep. Val Demings of Florida, shouted back at both Byrne and Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas, who were yelling about the process.
"It was closest thing I've seen around here to mass civil unrest as a member of Congress," according to a source in the room.

Cooper left the room while the Republicans refused to vacate the space. The source says the Capitol Police and sergeant at arms have been consulted as members refuse to leave the room, and lawmakers say there are ongoing negotiations about how to end the standoff.

...The Republicans say they forced their way into the secure spaces because Democrats are holding impeachment depositions behind closed doors, denying the public the ability to see what's being said by witnesses that could be used to impeach President Donald Trump.
"Show your face where we can all see the travesty that you are trying to foist on America and the degradation of our Republic that you're engaged in," said Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama.

But the GOP complaints about the process — Republicans who have been in the room have made the same argument about public hearings and releasing transcripts following nearly every deposition — comes as Republicans have focused their objections on the process rather than the substance of what the witnesses have said.
CNN

None of this would be happening if these disgusting people weren't seriously worried that the proceedings have been proving a very real jeopardy to Trump and Republicans. It's no coincidence that this happened following yesterday's revelations.

Edit: Just saw this

All are part of today's riot, which included trying to film from INSIDE A SCIF.

Matt Gaetz storming a SCIF to shut down an investigation, Matt Whitaker stating abuse of power is not a crime, and Trump’s lawyer arguing he can’t even be investigated for shooting someone really is the perfect encapsulation of the GOP’s current attitude towards the rule of law.

In millions: Nebraska 2/330=0.006% California 39/330=11.8%
That is a ratio of 20 to 1

It's understood, as a matter of course, that statecraft isn't an exact science. Decisions made in response to a particular emergency often rigidify into self-sabotaging policies which unfold over decades. Even a powerful country can find it very difficult to extract itself from long-festering, steadily obsolescing obligations, alliances, and enmities. That's why we have something called "diplomacy". Ideally, skilled, knowledgeable, and experienced public officials within the State Department try to make the best of what ever particular bad policy is boiling over at the moment. Lots of times this involves inventive forms of face-saving.

The reason sovereign states put up with this charade is because, like individual humans, each country is beset with its very own range of psychoses and it's better for all concerned if things are kept, if not mellow, at least civil. So let's say a country becomes beset with the fact that it's been at war for the past 20 years and wants to start backing out of foreign military commitments. Basically turning tail because it can't "win". Of course no leader wants to put it that way but "bringing the troops home" is a syrupy way to the hearts of patriots everywhere. And it goes without saying that conceding the battlefield to the enemy can't be seen as a total loss so diplomats will work out some sort of ceremonial compromise, the veritable quid pro quo. In Vietnam we were in such a desperate rush to leave that all we asked of Hanoi was a "decent interval" before they took over the South and declared victory. In other cases boundaries are redrawn, aid programs promised, military posture diminished, political or economic reforms adopted. Both sides are seen as having achieved something.

The amazing thing about Trump's "diplomacy" is that we seem to be willing to give up a lot, settle for nothing, and call it "victory". An enemy becomes a friend and an authoritarian becomes a man of the people overnight. While our state department is put on standby Trump hires a team of shady lawyers to go conduct foreign relations — and they bungle the job. North Korea is still in the nuclear game. In the hope of weakening the European Union, Russia is meddling in the politics of Eastern Europe and Italy and Trump heaps praise on the repressive anti-democratic trends in those countries. The whole Syrian thing pretty much speaks for itself. And the winning streak continues!
