The orange shitgibbon demonstrates his intellect and his long-held and abiding interest in American history. He is, of course, one of the greatest minds in the subject area, possibly the greatest. Many say so.

Quote:
Trump displays his knowledge of history during Mt. Vernon visit

To hear Donald Trump tell it, he's a fan of history, though we're occasionally reminded that this may not be altogether true. Politico published this gem this morning.

Quote:
President Donald Trump had some advice for George Washington.

During a guided tour of Mount Vernon last April with French president Emmanuel Macron, Trump learned that Washington was one of the major real-estate speculators of his era. So, he couldn't understand why America's first president didn't name his historic Virginia compound or any of the other property he acquired after himself.

"If he was smart, he would've put his name on it," Trump said, according to three sources briefed on the exchange. "You've got to put your name on stuff or no one remembers you."

Leave it to Donald Trump to visit Mt. Vernon and focus his attention on the limited reach of George Washington's brand.

Of course, smart or not, Washington didn't name his home after himself, though he appears to be remembered anyway. The nation's capital city is named after him; there's a state named after him; his face is on American currency; a prominent university is named after him (I went to GW); and there's a giant obelisk in his honor near the White House.

Politico's report added that Trump's disinterest in Washington made it difficult for the tour guide -- who later described the experience as "truly bizarre" -- to "sustain Trump's interest" for 45 minutes. The French president and his wife, meanwhile, "were far more knowledgeable about the history of the property than the president."

So we now have our first photograph of a black hole.

https://pixel.nymag.com/imgs/daily/intelligencer/2019/04/10/10-black-hole.w700.h467.jpg

Some will see a donut here. Others, a bagel. Some others, probably, will be reminded of one of those expensive heated toilet seats.

But to me, it looks very much like a smiley face emoji if a culture of cyclops had developed the internet.

My coaster makes those stops, as well. I have one additional stop that I frequent more and more - escapist denial.

Well, one does need to get some sleep now and again.

If Trump was a singular phenomenon, that would be terrifying enough. But to have Republicans/conservatives excuse his every deceit and his obvious intellectual and moral unfitness is what really scares the **** out of me.

With the same type of people who tend to be Trump supporters not having their children vaccine resulting in the return of some very serous diseases that used to killed millions the problem might just solve itself.

Kim Kardashian Plans To Become Lawyer, Will Take Bar Exam In 2022
She's studying to become a lawyer without going to law school.
By STACI ZARETSKY
at 1:46 PM

This fall, Kanye West broke the news to Extra that his wife, Kim Kardashian West, hot off her stint of working with President Donald Trump to commute Alice Johnson’s sentence, was studying the law, saying, “My wife is in law school now, and it’s extremely serious to us.”

Kardashian West’s representatives then confirmed that the queen of reality TV was not, in fact, going to law school — but they neglected to tell the world what was really happening. Kardashian West is studying become a lawyer without going to law school.

As it turns out, Kim Kardashian West is in her first year of a four-year apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco, and she’ll be taking the California baby bar sometime this summer. If she passes, she’ll be permitted to continue with her apprenticeship. (How is this possible? California is one of a handful of states that allows people to take the bar without a college or law school degree.)

Kardashian West revealed the news in an interview with Vogue, saying that she felt a bit out of her depth in her quest to get Johnson released from prison. “The White House called me to advise to help change the system of clemency,” she says. “And I’m sitting in the Roosevelt Room with, like, a judge who had sentenced criminals and a lot of really powerful people and I just sat there, like, Oh, s—. I need to know more.”

Vogue has additional details on how Kardashian West’s studies are going:

“First year of law school,” Kim says, “you have to cover three subjects: criminal law, torts, and contracts. To me, torts is the most confusing, contracts the most boring, and crim law I can do in my sleep. Took my first test, I got a 100. Super easy for me. The reading is what really gets me. It’s so time-consuming. The concepts I grasp in two seconds.”

Kim Kardashian West is not a fan of Keeping Up with the Kontracts, but it’s nice to see that she’s following in her late father’s footsteps — Robert Kardashian of O.J. Simpson acquittal fame — with her interest in criminal law and criminal justice reform.

“I just felt like I wanted to be able to fight for people who have paid their dues to society,” she says. “I just felt like the system could be so different, and I wanted to fight to fix it, and if I knew more, I could do more.”

Congratulations to Kim Kardashian West on her decision to become a lawyer. Here’s hoping she’s able to conquer the beast that is the California bar exam.

I think the anti-vax people are silly as well, but the question has to be asked, if we eradicated these diseases from the US, how have they returned?

It wouldn't be the first time a large group of humans en masse did something seriously idiotic. But let's be fair. They have been trained into idiocy.

Trump: the Russia investigators exonerated me!
Trump: the Russia investigators are guilty of treason!

You have to admit this is a compelling argument.

It makes sense to investigate the motivations behind the Russia investigation, since it superficially appears to be part of the broader harassment campaign against the Trump administration, as well as a public shadow play designed to fill up the media with anti-Trump propaganda for political reasons.

Ultimately, there are powerful interests that simply don't want to deal with Trump obstructing their trade/business plans, and so they attack/smear him and try to remove him as an obstruction by whatever means possible, democratic and/or undemocratic.

Just a side question here on site protocol.

There are a few people on this thread, and you know who you are, who disagree with me on everything other than our grandma's pre-marital celibacy.

What if I were to spin a little story where you are doing your typical mincing walk down the city street when two cartoon movers drop a bulging cartoon safe from an 18th story window and it falls right on you, now as flat as hammered ****.

Would this fit within our code of conduct? Why or why not?

@blatham,
This cracks me up. Blaming the Democrats didn't work for him. Now, he's going to blame the intelligence community (a community for which he would never meet the minimum standards--i.e., possessing intelligence). Putin has got to be lovin' this. In fact, I suspect that Putin came up with this dodge. After all, he was a KGB officer at the time of the fall of the Soviet Union.
