Because we are Representative Republic with a Constitution that is our law. Anything else?

An as such it is not a democracy at best it is a pseudo democracy and not even that when a powerful and unfriendly foreign state take part in our elections.

So what?

Calling a system where that can happen and sadly not rarely but of late more and more common event can not be called a democracy
Sure it can. All the other advanced nations choose their leader based on election results that are divided up into individual districts. We're not unusual in this.

If the voters found Russia's arguments more persuasive than Democratic arguments, that is a failure on the part of the Democratic Party.

I did not know that Russia took an open part in our election instead of just aiding Trump by promoting fear and hate toward anyone who is not white and Christian behind the scene to win the election.

@BillRM,
Open, closed, the bottom line is the voters found their arguments more persuasive. That's a failure on the part of the Democrats.

If you want to be a hardliner, the only real democracy is one where there is no legislature and the voters vote directly on all laws.

You are badly in need of a civics course. Things have to be proved in this country, not assumed. And so far they have proven jack ****.

@oralloy,
Go and take a look at the vote tally again. Democrats clearly were the preferred party, the party the actual VOTERS preferred. it was only the anti-democratic electoral college that pushed trump upon us, not the voters.

@MontereyJack,
It looks to me like every elector voted according to the will of the voters in their state.

@oralloy,
that's not the only real democracy. It's one form of democracy. It's in practice unworkable in a society as diverse, populous and complex as ours, which is why we live in a constitutional representative democracy, aspirationally at least if not always fully in practice. GOP voter suppression and gerrymandering, among other things, **** it up.

@MontereyJack,
Republicans don't suppress votes. They merely try to prevent Democrats from cheating.

Democrats are just as guilty of gerrymandering as Republicans are.

There is nothing you could change in 2016 which would be legal and which would result in a Hildabeast/demopoop win.

Eliminate the EC and giant numbers of GOP voters in Ca. and NY who don't bother to vote under present conditions would all vote, and DT wins.

Eliminate all the fraud and dead or illegal voters, and DT wins.

Eliminate all the interference from foreign powers (Mainly the UK, Soros, Rothschildes etc.), DT wins.

Eliminate the deep state/fbi conspiracies, DT wins.

Provide the US with an honest and respectable media, DT wins.

Do all of that and you'd be looking at a near fifty state blowout like in 1980.

I assume you're talking about the remnants of the empire which the sun never used to set on (Rothschildes, Soros, MI5, MI6, London banking nexus, Steele dossier etc. etc.)

I mean, I KNOW you're not talking about Russia or any other Christian nation, that would be nonsensical and only a total porcine idiot would be trying to say anything like that.

That is also what a nation which will never go back to communism/socialism looks like and which nobody like Joseph Stalin or Bork Obunga or HDK will ever rule again looks like.

@gungasnake,
I always thought it was interesting that the Orthodox Christians translate their Old Testament from Greek texts instead of Aramaic.

IMO Greek is the proper source for a Christian Old Testament.

I'm not terribly interested in reading the Bible. But if I was, I think I'd go to the Orthodox translations for my Old Testament.

That's the sort of thing a person with a 170 IQ might notice....

For English bibles what I tell people is that you have to have a copy of the KJ around since the yuppie bibles wreck some of the old stories by trying to yuppify the language. The editors of the KJ had the decency, when they did not understand the context of some of the OT stories, to leave the language as they found it on the off chance that somebody 300 years later might figure out what it meant. That has in fact happened in the cases of Genesis 11:1 and in the question of Isaiah 30:26 which is talking about the seven days of intense light prior to the flood, and not the possibility of cramming seven days worth of light into one day.
