@coldjoint,
This was the money the US confiscated from Iran when they overtook the US Embassy in Tehran and took our Embassy staff hostage. The US froze Iran’s assets for a long duration and then returned the money. This was not a gift to Iran, no matter how hysterics try to paint it.

...and that is the simple truth about that money. They had their own money returned to them. And no matter how true it is, and no matter how plainly it is spoken, and no matter how often repeated - it will never get people like coldjoint and oralloy to let go of their fucked up Faux News talking points.

Details of former Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort's alleged lies to investigators have been revealed in improperly redacted new court filings.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team accused him of lying about interactions with Konstantin Kilimnik, an alleged Russian operative, the papers say.

Manafort's lawyers argue in the filings he did not break his plea deal because he never meant to mislead anyone.

Mr Mueller is investigating alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

In August, Manafort, 69, was convicted of financial fraud relating to his work as a political consultant in Ukraine, which pre-dated his role with Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

He accepted a plea deal on his other charges in exchange for co-operating with Mr Mueller's inquiry. The Mueller team accused him in November of breaking that deal by lying to investigators.

The redaction errors in Manafort's rebuttal show prosecutors believed he had lied about sharing 2016 polling data with Mr Kilimnik, as well as meeting him in Madrid and discussing Ukrainian politics while Manafort was managing the Trump campaign.

Manafort's lawyers have argued he provided truthful information to the best of his ability at the time.

The details about Manafort's alleged falsehoods come just as Russian lawyer Natalya Veselnitskaya, who famously attended a meeting with top Trump aides in 2016, was charged in a separate obstruction of justice case.

Additionally, the US Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled against a mystery foreign company for defying a grand jury subpoena related to the special counsel's inquiry.

@coldjoint,
Who's clamoring for "open borders"? The real problem is the way Trump, not having the political skill to actually make a goddamned deal, uses the obnoxious tactic of closing down the government in order to extort concessions unachievable through negotiation, compromise, and effective legislation. It's a chicken-**** dodge, no matter which side does it, and it's basically an admission of total political bankruptcy.

Build more nuclear reactors and maybe we can reduce our carbon emissions.

Otherwise you should get used to seeing our emissions increase.

Leftists routinely refer to socialist health care systems like the one in the UK as single payer, so it is a fair characterization.

All the Leftists funding the caravans for one. Globalists who want Trump to fail. The MSM because they are told to say no one wants open borders. There are more. Misguided socialists who can not feel good about themselves unless we give the country away. And the indoctrinated millennial cuckolds masquerading as men.

Leftists are unable to support their demented ideology with facts and logic, so they simply babble about Fox News and hope that no one will notice that they can't back up their claims.

Iran forfeited their right to that money when they overran our embassy and kidnapped American citizens.

Just to clarify, it's not a "chicken-**** dodge" when anyone else does the same thing, right Hi?

Way back in the day, shutdowns usually weren't that big a deal. They happened every year when Jimmy Carter was president, averaging 11 days each.

During President Reagan's two terms, there were six shutdowns, typically just one or two days apiece. Deals got cut. Everybody moved on.

Before a three-day lapse in January, caused by Democrats' insistence that any budget measure come with protections for young immigrants known as "dreamers," the most recent significant shutdown was a 16-day partial shuttering of the government in 2013.

That one came as Republican tea party conservatives tried to block implementation of Obama's health care law.

The government also shut down for a few hours in February amid a partisan dispute over deficit spending.

Why didn't any other president do it? We had 5 in between. Obama aided terrorists and you approve of it. Thanks.

The one in the USA wouldn't be socialist. Not one member of congress has mentioned a plan to take over hospitals or anything other than the payment processing.

Right, but since the left misused the term to refer to socialist systems, they left a huge opening for conservatives to simply agree with their misuse of the term.
