@maporsche,
She did falsely claim membership in a category of people eligible for special treatment under the various minority categories at Harvard. Continuing even after spokesmen for the Cherokee Nation have repeatedly rejected her claims of nationality. Whether this status involved any actual special treatment for her is something I don't know for sure.
I accept her story that her mother told her about some Cherokee ancestry, but that is a far cry from rightfully claiming "minority status" at the University. In most cases I wouldn't pay much attention to this. However Sen. Warren has distinguished herself by her willingness to advance policies for increased government intrusion in our economic lives. For one who appears to be sure she has a special knowledge of what is good for the rest of us, her behavior in this instance certainly does not recommend her.
She looks rather foolish now, and she deserves it. I also have the impression that her Democrat colleagues are a bit pissed about the timing of her rather thin and vacuous "proof" of the validity of her claims.
