The F.B.I. investigated EXACTLY this sort of thing when Anita Hill alleged she was sexually harassed by Clarence Thomas. George H.W. Bush requested that the F.B.I. look into her claims, and they did

Quote mysteryman:

Except the allegations against justice Thomas were made while he was a federal judge, on federal property.
That makes it a federal case and the FBI had to investigate.

The allegations against justice Kavanaugh concern a matter that is not even remotely considered a federal matter.

Wrong!!! The FBI is in charge of doing background checks on nominees, like they did on Jared Kushner when he went visiting Kremlin connected bankers after being appointed a White House advisor. Whether or not what they are investigating about the Federal nominee has nothing to do with whether an incident happened on Federal property or the nominee was employed by the Federal government at the time. It's about doing a background check on a Federal nominee.

@coldjoint,
Blatham's post is absolutely correct. The Republicans are terrified in the MeToo era of seeming insensitive on the issue of rape, so instead of doing a smear job on Christine Ford like they did on Anita Hill, they are going to hire an outside woman lawyer to pound her during the hearing. That way the GOP men can be on the sideline and avoid looking bad.

Dershowitz Blasts Dems for Backing Kavanaugh’s Accuser Without the Facts

And the Democrats are screaming to get the FBI to find the facts before they vote on the nomination, and the Republicans are hollering out "Never!!". So why is Dershowitz blasting the Democrats?

It looks like we are going to have two sexual predators on the supreme court. And you want me to show respect to predictor judges?

Try respecting the law instead, you are showing no respect for our system. You know, what the resistors are supposedly saving.

I respect the law bunches. Now if the republicans in congress and their clones did so this country could really go forward.

We can't be prosperous while we are at it? People are rising from poverty. You clearly do not understand our laws. Our laws do not say give away the country to make us feel better. I suggest people deal with it and try to help.

Yes, exactly. And who among us will be surprised when, after some particularly egregious instances of that lawyer/prosecutor suggesting or implying Ford is a flake or a liar or a teenage slut, Grassley and crew will bemoan how terribly Ford was treated.

"Did you hear this latest late-breaking news from the Kavanaugh hearings? Ruth Bader Ginsburg came out that she was groped by Abraham Lincoln," Rep. Ralph Norman reportedly said during a debate in South Carolina.

Making a joke about groping a woman is never funny. Despicable idiot!

GOP congressman mocks Kavanaugh allegation, jokes that Ginsburg said Abe Lincoln groped her

Quote:
The congressman made the joke after telling the crowd that he almost had to miss the debate and travel back to Washington to address the accusation.

The off-color remark appeared to poke fun at Ginsburg's age — she is 85 — and the recent sexual assault allegations made against Kavanaugh by California professor Christine Blasey Ford. Ford alleges that Kavanaugh drunkenly tried to force himself on her while they were teenagers in Maryland in the 1980s. Kavanaugh has vehemently denied the allegation.

Wow! Apparently, your study of the American Conservative Movement has included the personal psyches of each and every male member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Amazing!

This demand of Ford is the perfect indication of how the Dems are driving her responses. This poor woman is a puppet of a cynical political effort.

Jerome Corsi, a hard-right conspiracy theory author and associate of Roger Stone’s, was in front of special counsel Robert Mueller’s grand jury Friday, ABC News reported based on a source with direct knowledge of the appearance.

Corsi is the latest of a string of people in Stone’s circle who have come in front of the grand jury, which has been convening in a federal courthouse and D.C. Corsi was subpoenaed by Mueller, and his attorney told ROI-NJ last week that they were cooperating and traveling to D.C. meet with the investigators on Monday.

The attorney, David Gray, declined to comment on Friday’s ABC News report in an email to TPM.

Mueller prosecutors Jeannie Rhee, Andrew Goldstein and Aaron Zelinsky were spotted by TPM at the courthouse Friday.

Corsi is known for his role in pushing Obama birtherism as well as other conspiracy theories, including about the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the Sandy Hook shooting.

He was at one time a bureau chief for the fringe website InfoWars, and has published books and written elsewhere about his far-right beliefs.

In recent weeks, other associates of Roger Stone — who served as an informal ally of Donald Trump’s campaign — testified for the grand jury, including New York radio host Randy Credico and the so-called “Manhattan Madam,” Kristin Davis.

Another Stone associate, his ex-aide Andrew Miller, is fighting Mueller’s subpoena in court.
