Who the hell is Jeffrey Toobin, I wonder, and why does he say "we?" He appears to somehow know things no one else knows.

I'm thinkin he must be some kinda psychic or clairvoyant, eh?

In classical cheese-eater form, you seem to think that if you can run down some crazy-ass who's ready to agree with you want to be true, then that, ipso facto, MAKES it true.

@Olivier5,
That illustration of jesus is remarkable. First, he's a red-head which is a tad unlikely. But more striking is the sexualized character of the subjects in the illustration, including jesus.

But "sexualized" isn't really the right word. Before the cultures of Europe were reintroduced to the art of the classical period (Rome, Greece), all portraiture was stridently de-sexualized, eg...

That illustration you posted is not from the Renaissance (jesus has a shovel he might have bought at Walmart) but it is of that style where our humanity (our bodies, particularly) was celebrated, rather than repressed.

That's obviously not true!

They were told that if they didn't behave they would all be six feet under.

Oh but it IS from the renaissance; it's the Noli Me Tangere by Bronzino, one of my fav painters.

It depicts Mary Magdalena seeing the resurrected Jesus outside of his empty tumb in John 20. At first she thinks he's a gardener, hence the frequent depiction of Jesus with a shovel or hoe in renaissance paintings of the scene. See for instance:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/3d/Correggio_Noli_Me_Tangere.jpg/600px-Correggio_Noli_Me_Tangere.jpg
Correggio -- Noli Me Tangere

The super-sexual Christ of Bronzino may express the carnal love / lust of Maria Magdalena, who would presumably move to hug Jesus as soon as she recognises him. Jesus tells her: "touch me not" (noli me tangere in Latin) which some interpret as: "don't love me carnally anymore, do not cling on my physical aspect."

Or maybe Bronzino just loved to paint sexy men and women... See his downright erotic Jesus in Limbo.

@Olivier5,
Wow. That's extraordinary. And rather silly of me to presume the era's blacksmiths wouldn't have produced such implements.

Thanks. It's not uncommon for me to think I'm smarter than I actually am.

The number of demonstrations taking place during the Trump-Putin summit has risen to 10, says Helsinki Police.

The largest, Helsinki Calling, is expected to attract 10,000 participants on Sunday, based on the number of people expressing their attendance or interest on Facebook.

While enthusiasm on Facebook does not always translate into concrete action, Abdirahim “Husu” Hussein, one of the organisers of Helsinki Calling, is hopeful that up to 15,000 people could take part in the rally.

“Helsinki Calling is not a protest against Trump or Putin,” Hussein said.

“Instead, we will be there to defend human rights, freedom of speech, democracy and freedom of the press.”

All the things European countries are losing. That is not Trumps fault, he supports everyone of those things.

@Walter Hinteler,
That aint nuthin, Walt. Everybody pays lip service to that. They just don't practice it when it comes to using every method available to suppress speech they don't like, including the violation of human rights.

And when I say "everybody," I'm including these protesters, of course.

Any source what they exactly did there in Finland to support your claim?

Edit: I narrow my question to Helsinki Calling, but if have sources about the youth wings of the National Coalition Party and the Finns Party, the main organisators of the other demonstrations, it's okay, too

As long as your present government stays in power fascism will remain, and people like you will supply the stink. Ask Tommy Robinson.
