@layman,
Maybe the CIA can waterboard Trump and make him talk? The guy is a wimp; he'll be easy to break.

I've lost interest in following the thread since the idiots highjacked the topic.

You never talk on topic. You just come around to tell us how much better you are than anyone else. You have heard about from very old members of this forum.

The word is out, you are lockstep self righteous intolerant snob with nothing but gossip to offer. By all means carry on.

Last year a high school basketball team from some punk-ass town about 50 miles down the road came to our gym for a game.

At halftime, they were down 67-5. When the horn blew to start the second half, no one had come out of the locker room for their team.

Turns out they had lost all enthusiasm for playing the second half and had loaded up the bus and hauled ass during the break.

Why not? All their fans had already left too, eh?

Only if you're of the belief that Americans (in general) are as polarised and partisan as those frequenting these pages.

I'd be looking to the numbers who can be bothered voting. The rest either have accepted the corruption endemic to the system of congressional behaviour, or couldn't give a flying fig either way.

Theresa May has revealed that Donald Trump advised her to “sue the European Union” rather than negotiate with the 27-country bloc in a private conversation that the US president referred to during his visit to the UK on Friday.

The prime minister was asked on the BBC’s The Andrew Marr Show what was the “brutal” advice that Trump had referred to in their joint press conference outside the prime minister’s Chequers country retreat.

Revealing it for the first time, May said: “He told me I should sue the EU.” Her remarks will be interpreted as a put-down of the president. She indicated she had disregarded the advice: “Actually we’re going into negotiations with them.”

@Walter Hinteler,
That's so funny... Sue the EU on what basis exactly? And in which court??? The European Court of Justice, which brexiters hate profusely???

So here's the full video of your president viewing the guard, and the little ol' lady showing him to take the lead.

How effectively have the propagandists misused this short sweet scene?

Perhaps they saw the event live, in full length? He was walking in front of the queen, then halted abruptly during the inspection, forcing Queen Elizabeth to walk around him.

You could watch her gesturing to Trump as he makes his way down the line of guards, slightly ahead of her. She shuffles briefly behind Trump, at one point disappearing behind him altogether. Eventually, the pair walk side by side to complete the inspection.

This is the bit that you seem to have issue with.

I didn't see a single instance of displeasure in the ol' duck's demeanour.

@Builder,
Either he’s not a respecter of this protocol of manners established for the Queen and generally followed by all heads of state, or he’s not self-aware enough to know when he’s breaking that protocol.

Not earth shattering, but, yeah, tiresome and predictable.

Waterboarding is unnecessary. Just hold a cheeseburger under his nose.

@Builder,
No biggy. Michelle Obama draped her arm around her, and if my memory can be trusted, I think Carter kissed her?

I think I’m suffering from Trump Unforced Error Fatigue.

If you were constructing a sliding scale with Acceptable Royal Protocol at one end, you'd most likely put OK by Australian Standards at the far end.

@izzythepush,
Quote:
The United States may be Germany's No. 1 ally, but two-thirds of Germans think that the US president is more dangerous than his Russian counterpart. That's not surprising when you look at Germany's political priorities.

When asked which world leader was the greater threat to world security, 64 percent of respondents chose US President Donald Trump over his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. That's according to a Yougov poll published on the eve of Trump's meeting with Putin in Helsinki.

And the German antipathy for Trump doesn't end there: 56 percent thought that Putin was more competent than Trump, with only 5 percent preferring the former to the latter on that score. Thirty-six percent of Germans find Putin more likable than Trump, while 6 percent say the opposite — although most respondents refused to indicate a preference on that question.

And, perhaps most surprisingly, 44 percent said Putin was more powerful than Trump, compared with only 29 percent who thought the US president has more power.

German conservatives share the general public's dislike of Trump. People who voted for Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservative Christian Democrats (CDU) also found Putin more likeable, competent and powerful than the US president by margins similar to respondents as a whole. In fact, conservative voters were slightly more likely (66 percent) to class Trump as the bigger threat than people overall in the poll.
... ... ...
The reasons for the German antipathy toward the US president run deeper than a visceral response to Trump's abrasive leadership style. Germans simply have different priorities.

In a new poll carried out by the Emnid organization for the "Bild am Sonntag" newspaper, in which respondent were asked to rank which political issues they considered most important, "increasing defense spending" - a Trump - came in dead last with only 16 percent.

According to the poll, Germans are also not particularly concerned with a rise in migrants to Europe - only 38 percent said they would prioritize "limiting immigration." What worries Germans most are becoming poor in their old age, maintaining equal educational opportunities for all and improving their health-care system.

@Walter Hinteler,
The danger lies with that part of the US government which Trump had not yet totally brought under control, and not with Trump.

"Respect this."

Well, if you're tryin to kill some bitch, a chainsaw should be an effective way to do it, I would figure:

Quote:
Illegal immigrant accused of attacking wife with chainsaw was deported 11 times, officials say

An illegal immigrant who allegedly slashed his wife with a chainsaw at their California home was previously deported 11 times before he was arrested Thursday in the gruesome attack, immigration officials said.

Alvarez is accused of attacking his wife in the couple’s home in Whittier on Wednesday while their three children were inside, police said.

Alejandro Alvarez, 32, is a “serial immigration violator” who has been deported nearly a dozen times since 2005, Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Lori Haley told the Los Angeles Times.

Records showed Alvarez had a criminal history prior to his recent arrest.Immigration officials have lodged a detainer against Alvarez.

Needless to say, he was never reported to ICE after any of his previous arrests. Not the least bit difficult to illegally enter 11 times either. He'd just stroll across the border, even at a guarded point of entry, then say "I'm in now, mofo. What the **** ya gunna do about it?"

Under Obama, the answer was: "I'll tell ya what I'm gunna do! I'm gunna fill out a piece of paper telling you to show up at a hearing in about 5 years. Now, git! And ya best be there for that court date, ya hear!?"

Even this time the detainer placed on this guy by ICE will be ignored. Unless the law enforcement official honoring it wants to end up in a California jail, anyway.
