Of course, the Republicans responded: Boehner denounced the executive action, and then minutes later proceeded to announce a lawsuit against Obama over Obamacare. The bill didn't make it to the floor to be voted on.

Three Glaring Examples Proving Snopes and the AP Have No Business Being Official ‘Fact Checkers’

Snopes and the Associated Press have been given power over social media to define truth but they are often wrong and the consequences are grave.

Case in point. Within the last month, Snopes and the Associated Press both claimed that articles we wrote were false when they clearly were not. As a result of their illegitimate claims, the Free Thought Project has watched our website traffic drop.

On June 8, Snopes attempted to claim that a story we wrote about Veterans on Patrol was false by claiming that we said this veterans group discovered a child trafficking camp in Tuscon, AZ. The only problem with this claim is that we never made it. The Free Thought Project merely reported on the activities of VOP and noted the possibility that this camp could also simply be a homeless camp. It’s why we used quotes in the title around “Child Trafficking Camp” because these were their words, not ours.

The Associated Press, on the other hand, did something far more sinister. The AP debunked a claim that no one said in a title, or article, or anything else for that matter. They made up a false claim and then said they debunked it. The AP then used this fake debunking to have one of our articles labeled as fake news and, yet again, thousands of readers who shared our article received a notification that they had been played and shared something false.

What bugs me the most about you lot just willy nilly making 'rebuttal' posts, saying 'Look! Obama did it too, see???',

Philadelphia: Schools Add Muslim Holidays by Cutting Jewish One

Effective 2018-19, the new calendar also eliminates a day from Jewish high-holiday closures. Schools will close September 10 and be open September 11. For many years, Philadelphia closed public school for both days of Rosh Hashanah and for Yom Kippur. The reasons were practical: many public school teachers were Jewish, and so were several students. It made sense to close schools rather than find a large number of substitute teachers, or teach with several students absent.

School district spokesman Harold Whack denied that the calendar change had anything to do with Muslim holidays. Cheryl Logan, the school district’s chief of academic support, claimed that the school year was moved to give students more schooling earlier in the year.

Logan identified Philly Eid Coalition, a consortium representing the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and other groups, as a stakeholder in creating the school calendar.
