New Quinnipiac poll finds that Americans oppose the separation of children and parents by a margin of 66% - 27%, but Republicans support it by a margin of 55% - 35%.

That does not mean they approve of illegal immigration. Remember that.

https://talkingpointsmemo.com/muckraker/kobach-proof-of-citizeship-requirement

Quote:

A federal judge on Monday ruled that Kansas’ proof of citizenship voter registration requirement was a violation of the Constitution as well as the National Voter Registration Act.

U.S. District Judge Julie Robinson had in previous orders temporarily blocked the requirement, which was championed by Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach. Robinson on Monday handed down her final decision on the case, which went to trial earlier this year.

Her 100-plus page opinion also knocked Kobach, who defended the law himself in court, for his “history of non-compliance with this Court’s orders,” and imposed “sanctions responsive to Defendant’s repeated and flagrant violations of discovery and disclosure rules.”

@ehBeth,
Beto can not see this a symptom of our immigration policy. That is the problem. Keeping kids with families solves nothing. The concern is completely political as Obama did the same thing. We do not need DACA after DACA.

That being said, now they can jump on Congress's ass and have them fix the laws. You know, they way it should be done.

@coldjoint,
As Lindsey Graham has already pointed out, this family separation is a policy of the Trump administration--not a law--and one Trump can immediately end with a simple phone call

@firefly,

-not a law-

I see if you have children with adults and you are not sure if all the adults are safe you leave the children unprotected? It might not be immigration law but it is a law that we protect children. That it is not handled differently is a good thing, if you want the children safe.

Democrats can end this policy by agreeing to compromise with Trump on border protection.

But Democrats like seeing crying children, so they will refuse to work towards reforming the system.

@oralloy,
Your statements confirm that Trump is intentionally bullying and abusing these refugees, including young children, in order to gain political leverage to force the Democrats to agree to finance "the wall". The wall he continually assured everyone he'd get Mexico to pay for, and a wall that most Americans don't want to pay for either.

Quote:
Indy media journalist Sharyl Attkisson posts jaw-dropping list of media LIES and mistakes about Trump

She was fired(?) at CBS for wanting to peruse "Fast and Furious". I wonder why? Here are the top ten lies being perpetuated by the media.
Quote:
1. The Trump Didn't Pay His Income Taxes Myth (Oct. 1, 2016)
2. Trump's Path to the Presidency Is "Nonexistent" (Oct. 18, 2016)
3. MLK Bust Story Goes Bust (Jan. 20, 2017)
4. Fake News About Trump Firing Comey Over More Resources To Investigate Russia (May 10, 2017)
5. Media Meltdown Over Comey's Supposed Plan To Refute Trump's Claim (June 6, 2017)
6. Three CNN Employees Resign After False Story About Supposed Russian Ties To Trump (June 22, 2017)
7. More Russian Collusion-Related Fake News (December 2, 2017)
8. The Infamous First Lady "Snub" That Didn't Happen (July 6, 2017)
9. Three Not Seventeen (July 6, 2017)
10. The Wiretapping Fiasco (Sept. 5, 2017)

There were several false claims regarding this story, but Attkisson highlights it in this way:

CNN’s Chris Cillizza and other news outlets declared Trump “lied” when he stated that Trump Tower had been wiretapped, although there’s no way any reporter independently knew the truth of the matter—only what intel officials claimed. It later turned out there were numerous wiretaps involving Trump Tower, including a meeting of Trump officials with a foreign dignitary. At least two Trump associates who had offices in or frequented Trump Tower were also wiretapped.

Others explained and a link to the whole list at link.

@ehBeth,
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/two-thirds-of-americans-say-separating-children-parents-at-border-unacceptable/

Quote:
Sixty-seven percent of Americans call it unacceptable to separate children from parents who've been caught trying to enter the U.S. illegally.

Much of this is driven by large percentages of Democrats (90 percent) and independents (66 percent) who find it unacceptable, while Republicans are more divided overall, with 39 percent calling it unacceptable, and one in five had not heard enough about it.

Older, very conservative Republicans are more apt to say it is acceptable, while younger and more moderate Republicans do not.

Quote:
President Trump's handling of immigration, generally, gets lower approval now -- at 35 percent -- than it did in May when it was 40 percent.

Overall approval from Republicans has declined ten points to 73 percent now, from 83 percent in May.

Americans who agree with the separation policy are more likely to be white, very conservative, evangelical, older, and to live in rural areas than those who find the policy unacceptable. They also overwhelmingly approve of how the President is handling immigration, more generally - at a greater rate than any partisan group.

Heh, Gunga. The democrats were sure celebrating ripping that poor immigrant child from his new home in America and deporting him to the repressive Castro regime, eh?
