Sit ins, marches, school-wide meetings where we invited soldiers/diplomats/politicians (who showed up), screenings of All Quiet on the Western Front. Obviously well before social media days.
Given that I don't think children today are less motivated than we were or stupider than we were, it is really hard to believe anyone doesn't understand what children are capable of doing (and how social media is going to make it easier and more powerful).
The big tragedy of the Obama Administration is, he had a chance to pass something big in his second term. Like global warming legislation.
But instead he wasted all of his political capital trying to pass a pointless ban on pistol grips. And we defeated him.
Afterwards he had no energy left to achieve anything. By 2016 the voters were in the mood for change after six years of a do-nothing presidency, and they elected Trump.
Now these kids want to use all of their energy trying to pass a pointless ban on pistol grips. We're bigger than them and we will defeat them just like we defeated Obama. And once these kids have exhausted themselves attacking us, they won't have anything left to pursue other achievements.
This generation may well have the energy to achieve something. But history will record that they achieved nothing.
