@blatham,
Warren has always been respected for telling it like it is.

Hillary was hated for being a liar—even admitting politicians should have a public persona (policies) and a private one. She used noise machines so reporters couldn’t hear what she was actually saying during those pricy Wall Street speeches.

Do you guys still not get it?

Warren and Clinton aren’t disparaged because of wonkishness or vaginas.

They are vastly different people. One is widely respected; one is not.

By whom? Do you have a lot of quotes that come to mind of Fox sending admiration-sparkles her way? Limbaugh? Paul Ryan? Mitch McConnell? Donald Trump?

They have been, are and will be disparaged because they are/were electoral threats. The means of disparagment commonly and predictably involve sexist tropes. There are cultural and historical reasons why so few women have been significant political figures and never once have you had a female President. Such a thing only happens where sexist presumptions are in place and are promoted.

@blatham,
Well, it is incumbent upon both parties - in this maladapted political arena - to attack all comers.

Hillary gave them endless ammunition.

The only thing they got on Warren was Pocahontas. And, she should’ve been called on it. I’m 1/16 Cherokee as well, but using it would be a deplorable thing to do in the context of why those scholarships are offered.

To the point, if you’ll recall pussy hats and “yet, she persisted,” originally a McConnell quote, the punishment for misogyny in politics is brutal.

I’m ready for a great woman president. Hoping Tulsi Gabbard or Nina Turner will run.

I think a lot of people are...but I'm not sure if they represent a sufficient number of voters to deliver her a victory.

I'd like to see a "great" president of either gender — the trouble is, "great" politicians don't necessarily make great presidents. I think I'd look for effective governors rather than attractive legislators. And even that would be a crap shoot.

In fundraising speech, Trump says he made up trade claim in meeting with Justin Trudeau
Quote:
President Trump boasted in a fundraising speech Wednesday that he made up information in a meeting with the leader of a top U.S. ally, saying he insisted to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that the United States runs a trade deficit with its neighbor to the north without knowing whether that was the case.

“Trudeau came to see me. He’s a good guy, Justin. He said, ‘No, no, we have no trade deficit with you, we have none. Donald, please,’ ” Trump said, mimicking Trudeau, according to audio of the private event in Missouri obtained by The Washington Post. “Nice guy, good-looking guy, comes in — ‘Donald, we have no trade deficit.’ He’s very proud because everybody else, you know, we’re getting killed.

“ ... So, he’s proud. I said, ‘Wrong, Justin, you do.’ I didn’t even know. ... I had no idea. I just said, ‘You’re wrong.’ You know why? Because we’re so stupid. … And I thought they were smart. I said, ‘You’re wrong, Justin.’ He said, ‘Nope, we have no trade deficit.’ I said, ‘Well, in that case, I feel differently,’ I said, ‘but I don’t believe it.’ I sent one of our guys out, his guy, my guy, they went out, I said, ‘Check, because I can’t believe it.’

‘Well, sir, you’re actually right. We have no deficit, but that doesn’t include energy and timber. … And when you do, we lose $17 billion a year.’ It’s incredible.”

The Office of the United States Trade Representative says the United States has a trade surplus with Canada.

Thus the world-wide calm and equanimity with his leadership. And, I suppose we could add, thus the Penn special election result.

@hightor,
One of Trump's many problems is that he thinks he can run the country like he ran his Trump brand for his businesses. On that basis, anything goes as long as you win; and if you don't actually win, act like you do so that your brand image remains intact; or in hopes of it remaining intact. Bluff in other words is a fine art I guess in some situations, but it shouldn't be for a President of the US.

Well, what do you know?

Trump Administration Sanctions Russians for Election Meddling and Cyberattacks

I have mixed feelings about this. I really hope to hell this doesn't mean that Putin will be releasing the Trump sex tapes in response.

Seriously, I wonder if Pompeo had something to do with this?

This has come up before but I wanted to point to one absolutely frightening aspect of the matter Trump and Trudeau
Quote:

He is scheduled for a meeting on trade with the US's main trading partner and Trump does not bother even to get himself minimally educated and prepared for the meeting or any profitable discussion. And then he brags about it.

And you're left wondering whether Sarah Palin would have been a more responsible leader than this guy.

@blatham,
All they needed was a figure head, someone to sign the dotted line, they didn't need no informed sane president so they are of course happy with what they got. (they as in Trump supporters)

I guess Trump is wanting to clash with so he has another scapegoat to use to deflect on whatever else is happening at the time.

Starting to feel sorry for some of you. You are going to have to repeat yourselves until 2024. It should be clear the far left is doomed. Look at the special election in Penn., that Democrat ran like a Republican.

Another very stable genius speaks:
Quote:
Limbaugh questions Stephen Hawking's promotion of the Big Bang Theory: "Since nobody could see it, how the hell do they know it really happened? But I'm not suppose to ask that."

Have any of us bumped into a more irresistibly compelling argument? I don't think so.

And credit where due - Rush has many times pointed out that no one was around to witness God's creation of the universe, so "how the hell do they know it really happened? But", he added, "I'm not supposed to ask that."
