This is why a good hunter wouldn't want/use a weapon like an AR-15.

Well:

“One rifle (AR-15) can be easily converted in to several different variants that will allow you to choose the right caliber for your hunt,” Grimsley said. “Going coyote hunting on Monday, use your .223/5.56 upper. Going whitetail hunting Tuesday, switch to the .300 Blackout. Going Elk hunting on Wednesday, change your upper again to a 6.5 Grendel. All of those upper receivers can be used with the same type of lower which gives greater flexibility for the hunter and the AR platform.”

I am addressing your call to ban hunting rifles every time you bring it up.

Where did I call for "banning hunting rifles?"

I doubt 99% of "military-styled weapon" owners own them for home protection. A pistol or shotgun serves that purpose much better.

Good. Then we can do away with the "self-defense" excuse.

Excuse? Shouldn't need an excuse to own a fire arm. Merely wanting one should be more than ample reason. The Federal Govt has no place in regulating firearms per the US constitution.

AR-15. They are also used for hunting, just like any other rifle.
I'd imagine about as often as dynamite is used for fishing.

Comments like that make it appear as though you know nothing about hunting or fishing.

So no one who hunts with a rifle is a good hunter?

@hightor,
So do you support a ban on handguns, or not?

When you started your crusade against the devastating impact of rifle wounds.

That doesn't make any sense. An AR-15 shoots a relatively small and weak bullet compared to most hunting rifles.

Maybe this picture will help? AR-15 shoots the .223 remington

You're qualifications in ancient and medieval European history are exactly .... what again?

Serfs have to do what their lords tell them to do.
Fine. (Actually not, because even simplified that's not the fact.)
And where in Europe are serfs under the rule of lords? (And that's not a definition of serfdom - serfdom and slavery are something different.)

Everywhere. You aren't allowed to have a gun unless you can convince your lord that you "need" it.

Maybe not in Switzerland though.
We don't have "lords" here (nobility was abolished in 1918 in Germany.
But even before, "lords" didn't have such powers.

I get a gun, when I want it and when it's according to the laws.
Switzerland has similar laws regarding guns to any other EU_country. (See for instance >here<
[Actually, in Switzerland the removal of personal feudal rights and the abolition of serfdom, which still existed in some parts of Switzerland, was achieved only in May 1798 (under Napoleon).]
