Trump says he’s never doubted Russian meddling. Here are the multiple times he has.

It’s on tape, in tweets, and in transcripts.

Fact-checking website PolitiFact declared Trump’s continued proclamations that Russian interference is a “made-up story” as its 2017 Lie of the Year.

There are reasons why President Trump refuses to make obvious criticisms of Vladimir Putin, why he won't implement sanctions needed to deter Russian espionage, why he attacks the FBI when its investigation yields overwhelming evidence of Moscow's aggression. There are reasons.

In today's Voices From The Right
Quote:
From that position of power, Trump has systematically attempted to shut down investigations of the foreign-espionage operation that operated on his behalf. He fired the director of the FBI to shut it down. His White House coordinated with the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee to misdirect the investigation. He mobilized the speaker of the House to thwart bipartisan investigations under broadly respected leadership. He has inspired, supported, and joined a national propaganda campaign against the Mueller investigation.

And all the while, Trump has done nothing—literally nothing—to harden the nation’s voting systems against follow-on Russian operations. On Sunday, he publicly repudiated his own national-security adviser for acknowledging at the Munich Security Conference the most incontrovertible basics of what happened in 2016.

@blatham,
The Republicans probably think they have a true friend and ally in Putin. There's no reason for them to "harden" the election system against the machinations of their buddy. But what they seem too dense to realize is that Putin has no friends on this side of the pond. At such time as Republicans grow strong and secure, the Internet Research Agency in St. Petersburg will turn their sights on them, and do all that they can to help the Democrats. It's not about any personal relationship with President Plump, nor about a meeting of minds with American conservatives. It's about destabilizing the country, undermining faith in the system and institutions, and sowing dissent and chaos to keep the pot on the boil.

I see Sofia Lash Goth is venting her spleen on behalf of her president, her party and her ideology. She can't even seem to avoid the currently popular Republican memes.

@Setanta,
You stunning hypocrites really ought to stop pointing fingers for things you also do.

Setanta, you present distractions and diversions for the USA 9/11 charade when you know full well that Arab hijackers could not have melted or vaporized WTC structural steel with jet fuel and office furnishings.

There is no sane reason that the US shouldn't have a respectful and satisfying relationship with Putin and Russia. You folks are so ******* brainwashed. You are like little children. All you hear is full time US propagandist bullshit.

Listen to Putin speak. He makes more sense, illustrates more of an adult like manner than the sum total of all US nutty politicians, with a few exceptions on the left.

Family attorney Jim Lewis, is into victim-blaming. He describes the shooter's fellow students as "bullies" and details how the shooter was expelled. He describe's the Snead family as "doing as what was right" for Cruz by letting him keep his AK-15 at the foot of his bed.

Dumb son bitch!

@BillW,
Three guilty pleas, 14 indictments!

Former Trump aide Richard Gates to plead guilty; agrees to testify against Manafort, sources say

Quote:
A former top aide to Donald Trump's presidential campaign will plead guilty to fraud-related charges within days — and has made clear to prosecutors that he would testify against Paul Manafort, the lawyer-lobbyist who once managed the campaign.

The change of heart by Trump's former deputy campaign manager Richard Gates, who had pleaded not guilty after being indicted in October on charges similar to Manafort's, was described in interviews by people familiar with the case.

@Lash,
On the related note of misinformation campaigns aimed at derailing Bernie Sanders supporters, in case this wasn't posted here yet, here's Bernie himself recounting how the Russian disinfo efforts tried to whip up his supporters into an anti-Hillary frenzy:

https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/video/full-sanders-interview-obama-was-in-a-difficult-position-on-russia-1164410435646

Quote:
At the end of my campaign, when it appeared that Clinton was going to win, and certainly after she won the nomination, what the Russians were doing is flocking to Bernie Sanders Facebook sites, and they were saying to Bernie Sanders supporters, [...] if you voted for Sanders, you have to understand Hillary Clinton is crazy, she's a murderer, she is terrible, all kinds of horrible, horrible things about Hillary Clinton.

And it turns out that one of our social media guys in San Diego actually went to the Clinton campaign in September and said something weird is going on, [...] hundreds of these people are now coming onto his Facebook sites. So I think we already knew that, it was an effort to undermine American democracy

Also:

Quote:
This was not just the 2016 campaign. They intend to do this in 2018. [...] Everybody knows this, except the President of the United States. [...] What we have got to do, [...] front dead - what we have got to say to the Russians: you are doing something to undermine American democracy; you are not going to get away with it; this is a major assault; if you do that there will be severe, severe consequences; we have got to protect states and communities to make sure that their voting is not compromised.

@nimh,
It’s such a testament to his character—after the DNC did and said much worse about Bernie, after the million dollar David Brock ‘Correct the Record’ bot farms paid to smear Bernie as a racist and a sexist and a godless Jew —Bernie continues to take the high road.

Of course, the Russians didn’t say anything that Americans haven’t been saying about Clinton for decades.

Again, this appears to be the crime so meticulously investigated for the past year— Russians saying what Americans have said first.
