Sen. Blunt's special beer tax break ended up in the tax cut legislation. His son is a beer lobbyist.

And that ain't all

@hightor,
hightor wrote:
When was he tried in a court of law on any of these charges?

He wasn't. There was no chance of a fair trial with the Democrats all insisting that he is above the law.

hightor wrote:
Impeachment is a political process, not a legal one. He had the support of 70% of the American public so the Senate didn't feel that his actions warranted removal from office.

In other words, they had proof of his guilt and decided that he should be above the law.

hightor wrote:
The Willey accusations (which are believable) remain just that — accusations. When were they proven?

I suppose I consider the believability to be strong enough to constitute proof.

I'll concede though that there isn't concrete evidence like an actual video of it happening.

This is so bad. We have just gotten list of amendments to be included in bill NOT from our R colleagues, but from lobbyists downtown. None of us have seen this list, but lobbyists have it. Need I say more? Disgusting. And we probably will not even be given time to read them.

That's patently untrue, as I'm sure you know.

I believe it is completely true.

And I'm correct.

Nevertheless, you are correct in that this isn't where the meat of the investigation lies.

There is no meat in this investigation.

It's just a witch hunt over nothing. I hope the Republicans are provoked into taking steps to suppress the Democratic Party and end their neverending witch hunts.

Then, why do they lie to the FBI about contacts that are not even remotely wrong? Next you'll be saying it is totally ok for tRump to shoot someone on 5th Avenue, of course, as long as it is a Dem?

@Cycloptichorn,
Cycloptichorn wrote:

Glad we agree. That being the case, the way I described the prosecution is EXACTLY how these sorts of investigations work.

It's essentially a RICO case. Which is unsurprising as Mueller hired prosecutors who specialize in RICO prosecutions.

Cycloptichorn

The tRump business, campaign and Administration are all three proven to be criminal organizations now. One reason for RICO laws is that criminal organization shields the "head(s)" from linkage to crimes of the organization other than orders. RICO charges allow prosecutors to get at these top people for ordering/condoning crimes to be committed; plus increased sentencing to all cronies. tRump is the "head" of these organizations and is at risk if Mueller decides to go a RICO route! States have similar statutes also.

Cycloptichorn

It is being reported that Flynn had 5 calls on the 29th to negotiate the "Sanctions" deal with Russia. He was talking to KT McFarland, his Deputy, at Mar a Lago. Of course, he wouldn't take directions from his Deputy. She was convening messages and getting directions from tRump.

Jared Kushner ordered Flynn to conduct the negotiations in the 1st place, it is reported.

Rick Perlstein, one of the smartest guys around, in conversation with Jon Wiener at the Nation
Quote:
Rick Perlstein: The Republicans like Jeff Flake are like the Republicans we couldn’t stand until Trump came along. What worries me is that these Republicans are basically making no apologies for how the conservatism that came before Trump helped contribute to Trump. What worries me is that after Trump is gone, if Trump is gone prematurely, they’re going to be able to claim to be noble, heroic figures. The worst case scenario is that we’ll basically have locked in their kind of non-Trump conservatism even more firmly at the center of American politics.
