With the new confirmed knowledge of Flynn being a Turkey foreign agent for hire to perform subversive illegal activities within the USA and then made tRump's National Security Advisor - well, the "T" word (Treason) is now being bandied about to include everyone in the know; ie, tRump, Sessions, Pence, etc.

Republican Party is fast turning into the party of corruption, pedophiles, aristocracy, and now - unAmerican activities. Sad, so sad!

Quote:

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has expressed interest in a December 2016 meeting between Flynn and representatives of the Turkish government, in which Flynn was reportedly offered $15 million to deliver a political rival of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from the United States to Turkey. Flynn denies the allegations and his attorney has called them "outrageous."

According to NBC News, citing three sources, the probe is also investigating whether Flynn discussed ways to free Reza Zarrab, a wealthy gold trader with dual Iranian and Turkish citizenship and personal ties to Erdogan. Zarrab was indicted in 2015 in federal court for allegedly circumventing U.S. sanctions on the Iranian regime by facilitating millions of dollars worth of unlawful transactions. He was set to go on trial in New York later this month.

The Daily Beast reported Thursday that Zarrab was removed from the Metropolitan Correctional Center, a federal facility in New York City, though a spokesperson for the U.S. attorney's office said Zarrab remained in federal custody.

The Bureau of Prisons inmate locator shows that Zarrab was released Nov. 8, three days after NBC News reported that the special counsel had enough evidence to bring charges against Flynn.

@MontereyJack,
What one person gets away with has everything to do with how other people are judged. People are sick to death of certain people and members of certain political parties getting away with things other people don’t get away with.

If Bill Clinton had been held accountable for the rapes and sexual assaults he committed throughout his career, we likely wouldn’t be seeing the eruptions of accountability permeating the news for the last few weeks.

Bill got away with it. Weinstein and Spacey and their pedo friends in Hollywood got away with it.

It’s who you know and how much money you have to pay off your victims and gatekeepers in the media.

I’m glad as hell about whatever the hell fibalky happened that has lowered their wall of protection.

Many

Many

people think that thing that happened was the Clintons/Democrats losing the White House.

More than 99% of liberals said that it was OK.

Said what was okay? You got a citation? The rape allegations were just that — allegations. Among the host of unconfirmed stories and fictional accounts how was anyone supposed to determine what really happened and what was part of the right-wing smear campaign? The American public, as a whole (not just "liberals"), didn't feel that the Lewinsky affair disqualified the man from office and the impeachment process was seen as a purely partisan exercise. Most people have been taught that a person is innocent until proven guilty. Had his guilt in cocaine-running, rape, or murder been established previously I really don't think he'd have been supported by "more than 99% of liberals"? He'd never have even been nominated.

But for some reason he wasn't. And he wasn't a member of the establishment or the glitterati in 1978, he was just an Arkansas politician. He didn't have the status of Teflon Don back then and he wouldn't have had nationwide support or international sympathy.

There has been more time and American tax $ spent on these conspiracy theories than any other subject in American history. What has been discovered is all there is - period, exclamation point Anything brought up now is pure poppycock - obfuscation at its maximum! The American people have spoken! End of subject.............

WASHINGTON — The White House asked Congress on Friday for $44 billion in additional relief in response to this year’s devastating hurricanes, but facing rising budget deficits and pushing a tax cut that could cost $1.5 trillion, the administration also suggested that lawmakers make spending cuts to offset disaster costs.

NYT
I'm getting sick of gutless politicians who think this country can be run on the cheap. I believe the U.S. Constitution says that the government should act to promote the general welfare of the nation. You don't promote the general welfare by starving public agencies of funding because you're too chicken **** to raise the revenue necessary to sustain the work of those agencies. Bush II wouldn't even raise taxes to fund his stupid military adventures. Here we have some unprecedented natural disasters and all Trump can think of is to cut spending somewhere else...I suspect there will be some clap trap about "eliminating government waste" and more billions will be added to the deficit. I'd like to see a flexible tax — maybe a national sales tax or maybe an increase in withholding rates — to cover unanticipated expenditures. Something that would be transparent, like one of those big thermometers organizations put up when raising funds. "Here are your tax dollars at work funding FEMA". People could see what the money was doing, where it was going — it might even generate some civic pride.

@BillW,
The people did speak.

If the Clintons weren’t mired in sex assaults, graft, and money laundering schemes they haven’t answered to, so many people wouldn’t hate her, and she’d certainly have beaten Donald Trump handily.

Remember kids, Clinton--who polled more votes than Plump--is not the topic of this thread. Help keep the thread moving along, with relevant and contemporary events. Everyone does a good job, by and large, we just need to ignore the conservative agents who want to deflect the conversation.

Not quite the end of the subject. The same people who spoke and said that Bill Clinton should be above the law are now wanting to condemn others, and the fact that they have no credibility to do so is causing them a certain amount of consternation.

Just look at the fact that they refused to convict him after his guilt was proved.

When was he tried in a court of law on any of these charges? Impeachment is a political process, not a legal one. He had the support of 70% of the American public so the Senate didn't feel that his actions warranted removal from office.
Quote:
At any rate, it was proven that he had sex with a subordinate and sexually assaulted Kathleen Willey.

The Willey accusations (which are believable) remain just that — accusations. When were they proven?

When are any allegations of sexual assault against powerful men proven? You carry their water now?

@Lash,
They're often settled out of court. It's not my fault that the criminal justice system is skewed in favor of the wealthy. That doesn't obviate the need to find convincing proof of their guilt and, as you know, sexual assaults can be very difficult to prove.

@Lash,
Oralloy was whining that Clinton hadn't been convicted, and Hightor merely pointed out the obvious - that convictions involve formal accusations, indictments and sentencing. Don't see how that's carrying anyone's water.

@hightor,
To answer your question: It is your fault.

It’s the fault of everyone who defends or obfuscates on the behalf of sexual predators.

If it’s wrong, say it’s wrong. Period.

Yes, say it's wrong, in a thread devoted to that topic. This thread is not devoted to that topic. Sexual predators have been mentioned in this thread, which is a relevant, contemporary topic--and they have been condemned. All you and your boyfriend here are doing is attempting to divert attention from President Plump. Why haven't you asked Plump why he hasn't condemned Roy Moore? I suggest that it's because you don't want to talk about him, you want to talk about anybody but him.
