That's not what it says at all, it says CO defers to Federal laws on age for purchase of firearms, so I'll answer the question for you.

No, a person the age of 16 cannot purchase a handgun in the state of CO. I live here, so do you really want to test me on how the laws work?

Unless you buy it from a private person.

Private party sales are subject to laws of the land too...just because there are basically no laws restricting in many states, is in fact, the law.

OE as far as I can tell wasn't talking about private party sales, he was talking about common gun sales. His false screed about gun laws only works if you only talk about private sales but he should really saw which state he lives in though or his is just making things up.

He didn't specify either way, but regardless, felons, illegal aliens, minors, etc can ALL buy guns in most states....from a private party. People, nationwide, do sell millions of guns a year right?

I doubt you'd support the rules regulating private party sales to be the same as dealer sales. Would you?

@old europe,
You seem to have studiously avoided naming the state in which you live. Is there a reason for not revealing the name of your state?

@blatham,
Quote:
At a June panel discussion hosted by the Washington Press Club Foundation, CNN senior congressional reporter Manu Raju spoke about the stakes involved with factual integrity these days. “You just cannot screw up in this environment because they’ll use every small mistake to come after you and suggest that you have some nefarious motive in your reporting,” he said.

And they would be right.

The "explanation" from The Times' Bumiller is pathetic, but as Sanders noted, entirely predictable.

Excerpt from the linked article:

All this was set in motion when the DNC’s mail server was first violated in the spring of 2016 and by subsequent assertions that Russians were behind that “hack” and another such operation, also described as a Russian hack, on July 5. These are the foundation stones of the edifice just outlined. The evolution of public discourse in the year since is worthy of scholarly study: Possibilities became allegations, and these became probabilities. Then the probabilities turned into certainties, and these evolved into what are now taken to be established truths. By my reckoning, it required a few days to a few weeks to advance from each of these stages to the next. This was accomplished via the indefensibly corrupt manipulations of language repeated incessantly in our leading media.
----------------------------------------------------
And watching this unfold with not one iota of hard evidence was astonishing, but when you have cronies in the FBI, CIA, media, a political party, and ARE NOT CALLED UPON TO PRODUCE PROOF, you really have unlimited power to create any narrative you please.

Sort of reminiscent of the ground-breaking lawsuit against the DNC happening right now but avoiding MSM coverage, the nascent Bernie Sanders presidential campaign, and the incredible Clinton-Wasserman Schultz connection to a Pakistani national who has very likely been blackmailing the DNC and several Democrats personally.

Don't laugh at Soviet Pravda anymore. American media is equally corrupt.

But they will, just as they will laugh at any reference to the Deep State, talk of DWS being blackmailed, and suggestions of MSM bias.

The Nation is hardly the National Enquirer, nor is it a friend to Trump or the GOP.

Of course he didn't specify which, it was the only way he could make his comment seem real to those who don't like or know real gun laws.

You are correct, I would not support those laws, it would require a private seller to obtain a FFL to even sell a gun to a family member. Should we make private seller of a car to meet the same standards and regulations as car lots? How about any private sale of an item should be treated just like someone who does it for a living?

@Baldimo,
Or just require both parties to go to a FFL dealer and have them act as an intermediary.

You don't need to make it more complicated than it is....but I get that it was the only way to make your comment seem valid to those who can think about this objectively.

Why? Are you required to use a car dealer when selling a car?

Putin is the only one who gets to constantly disrespect Trump without getting pushback. Not McConnell, McCain, Ryan, or anyone else.
And ain't it so.

I'm far from anti-gun...I own a shotgun and a handgun. They are not further than 10 feet from me right now.
