Cool idea, Stoat (writing down clear sticky thingies and hoping to understand just what the heck that means when I read it again).
:-D

PS Thanks in advance re Amazon. There's a link on the Home Page, left side.

Stoat! Howdy! Glad you started posting ... I'll be looking for you out on the boards. And I like the "Window Sticker" thing too.

Cicerone Impostor,
I appreciate the warning but I suspect that it's actually more of a matter of them salivating at these chocolates instead

jespah, I apologize for being unclear in my reference to the window decals. If you do a Google search for "removable vinyl window decals" you will get over 1600 hits for companies like this one

http://www.promowebsite.com/index.html

who will be happy to produce all manner of promotional items for you, including static cling window decals.
Be advised that any firm you do business with will charge an artwork setup fee, and so it's important to have a design you're happy with at the outset so that you don't waste money on redesigns and multiple setups.

Idea You could even host a design competition Idea

Hello Timber! Smile

It's nice to see you too. I appreciate your kind words, and here's a nice Adult beverage for you \_/

I wouldnt presume to put anything on anyones person or car. I had no idea that A2K has an AMAzon connection. Dell Computers pays our professional societies a fee for purchasing through our websites. This is pretty standard I imagine. The "spreading of the word" is key. Of course, I dont bother reading instructions much.

Farmerman- I wouldn't put the plastic thingy on other people's cars. Just on our own. Just think of it. From Australia to Germany to Guam to Brooklyn and Florida, people would be driving around with A2K plastic thingys. Razz

Hello Stoat! Visions of plastic thingies and stickie thingies are going through my head.

Your uncle looks very cuddly, by the way.

stoat,

"plastic thingies" are a very good idea. The company that I am going to use to manufacture mugs, hats, t-shirts etc makes bumper stickers but not "the plastic thingies". I'll have to look into it.

As to getting the google rakings this is something that extensive work has been done to acheive. The site was altered to strip the session IDs that guests get if the guest is a google crawler. So Google can spider the site without the session IDs.

There are another few quick and dirty workarounds specific to Google. I have not yet optmized this site for other search engines but still get refferals from them because of google results (like on AOL search etc).

We went from a 0 pagerank to 6 in a month or two mostly from targeting dmoz.

The result of these efforts is tuff like this:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=congressmen+retirement

There a topic here is number 1. Now as far as web development goes I am better at the promotional aspect than most of the rest. So this is one area that I plan to work extensively on. Right now I just need to finalize the move we made to a dedicated server.

Simply put, search engines sometimes have difficulty indexing dynamic (that means a site that changes as opposed to static content) sites and much work as been done to target Google visitors and help them find topics on this site.
SEO (search engine optimization) is something I do well and I once tried to do it for Abuzz. I got dmoz (dmoz is a directory, the link to "portal" at the top of every a2k page takes you to our version of the opn directory) listings for abuzz and tried to boost their google page rank (page rank is a method google uses to determine the "importance" of a page and site). I got frustrated that Abuzz had the no index meta tag (this is a line of code telling search engines to stay out) and quit trying to optimize results for a site that wouldn't let the results get indexed.

Keychains are cool, I'm not sure if the company we will use to make our products already deals with them.

As to design contests I'd love to have one. But I think there are very few people on the site who are adept at design. Those who are do not have much time.

I put the task of logo design to some developers in the past and they came up with a few. But I'll have to make one myself because I can't afford to wait for someone else to design it.

i still can't get to this site easily from msn. typing in able2know at msn invariably takes me to reviews of the site, which is lovely, but not what i'm after.

the funniest (i thought) was the day that the first 3 links msn offered me were cobalt's blog!
