the doilies thing got me thinking about that. not that doilies necessarily mean living well (or don't).

Hi Roz and welcome. It sounds like you'll be able to hold your own even in the most testosterone drenched political threads!

Most of the complaints have been made, especially by soz. It's the one-upsmanship (sp?) that ruins a good discussion. I can only take it a day or two at a time.

I still think the political discussions are worthwhile for the people who maintain a civility necessary for any good argument. For the most part, I read along and seldom participate.

There is much to learn and so many are incredibly knowledgable. When there is give and take I go away with many new ideas and different perspectives. Steissd has taught me a lot about war itself, with his experience in the Russian army and now with the Israeli army. I think he has a one-sided point of view, but he never gets 'catty' as only men can, and even though his perspective is always military, his references and links are honest and have much to teach.

The men on this thread also are informative and honest. That's all I ask for, an honest opinion respectfully stated.

As Timber said, if we try our best to continue in a civilized manner, the weeds might be worn down.

I believe doilies to be the mark of a civilization well past its apogee, and heading down, down down.....with nothing better to do while it tumbles - but then, I am just a rabbit...

I like to add my thoughts on political discussions,
IF I think I have something worthwhile to add to it
AND if I am in the mood for politics. You remember
the old saying about - if you wish to remain friends
never discuss (a) politics and (b) religion. Geez, I
have to fix my cat avatar - it looks like it has been
run over a few times, then spun around in the dryer,
not at ALL attractive, as ehBeth would say.
