Dem operative 'stepping back' after video suggests group incited violence at Trump rallies

Quote:
Washington (CNN)A Democratic operative whose organization was helping Hillary Clinton's campaign announced Tuesday that he would be "stepping back" from the campaign after an edited video suggested that he and other staffers hired people to attend Donald Trump's campaign rallies and incite violence.

Robert Creamer -- husband of Illinois Rep. Jan Schakowsky -- announced his resignation in a statement after conservative activist James O'Keefe released a video under his organization Project Veritas Action, which showed Creamer and other operatives purportedly discussing methods for inciting violence at rallies for the Republican nominee.

In the past, O'Keefe and his Project Veritas Action have been criticized for strategically editing footage to create false accusations about people or groups.

Creamer was helping the Democratic National Committee with Clinton's campaign while working for Democracy Partners, a progressive consulting group. He is also the head of a group called Mobilize, which contracted with the DNC.

"I am unwilling to become a distraction to the important task of electing Hilary Clinton, and defeating Donald Trump in the upcoming election," Creamer said in a statement. "As a result I have indicated to the Democratic National Committee that I am stepping back from my responsibilities working with the campaign."

He confirmed that he was referring to the Clinton campaign, with which he was "fully integrated."

Creamer added that "contrary to the outrageous claims of the notorious right wing blogger James O'Keefe, we have always adhered to the highest standards of transparency and legality in our work for the DNC."

He also denied that any of the schemes in the "hypothetical conversations" recorded for the video ever took place.
"We regret the unprofessional and careless hypothetical conversations that were captured on hidden cameras of a regional contractor for our firm, and he is no longer working with us," he said. "While none of the schemes described in the conversations every took place, these conversations do not at all reflect the values of Democracy Partners."

Democracy Partners called O'Keefe's video a "well-funded, systematic spy operation that is the modern day equivalent of the Watergate burglars."
Creamer told CNN that the national field director of Americans United for Change, Scott Foval, who was also recorded in the video, made false comments that are wrong about inciting violence at the rallies. Foval has since been fired from Americans United for Change, which had a contracting relationship with Democracy Partners.

"I mean, honestly, it's not hard to get some of these a------- to pop off," Foval purportedly says at one point in the video. "It's a matter of showing up, to want to get into their rally, in a Planned Parenthood T-shirt. Or 'Trump is a Nazi,' you know. You can message to draw them out, and draw them out to punch you."
Creamer said Foval's comments were "flat out wrong."
"We have gone to extreme measures to ensure no violence took place at any of our (counter protest) rallies," Creamer told CNN.

In 2005, Creamer pleaded guilty to tax violations and $2.3 million in bank fraud in relation to his operation of public interest groups in the 1990s.

DNC distances itself

The DNC quickly distanced itself from the accusations. Donna Brazile, the interim DNC chair, said O'Keefe "is a convicted criminal with a history of doctoring video to advance his ideological agenda" and that the practices have nothing to do with long-term efforts by the group.

"The practices described in the video by this temporary regional sub-contractor do not in any way comport with our long standing policies on organizing events, and those statements and sentiments do not represent the values that the Committee holds dear," Brazile said in a statement. "We do not believe, or have any evidence to suggest, that the activities articulated in the video actually occurred."

The Clinton campaign, meanwhile, denied that it has helped plant rogue protesters or deliberately incited violence at Trump campaign events.
"While Project Veritas has been known to offer misleading video out of context, some of the language and tactics referenced in the video are troubling even as a theory or proposal never executed," Zac Petkanas, a spokesman for Clinton's campaign, said in a statement. "We support the Democratic National Committee's appropriate action addressing this matter and look forward to continue waging a campaign of ideas worthy of our democratic process."

The denials are coming fast and hard now. Everyone's having to back out and we will see where the trail ends.

If this is all just made up by O'Keefe, then why the firings?

@McGentrix,
As far as the OP , the thesis is that elections are being rigged. I suppose then, that Trump's whining must include the fact that many of his accused states have their elections totally overseen and run by a GOP administration.
SO, I guess, hes indicting everybody. Is he gonna blow up in a huge ball of gas?

He has the connections and specifics. Quite plausible. Based on the heinous bullshit we have proof of Clinton and her mercenaries committing, I have no reason not to believe the Foval story.

Maybe you're not clear on what "rigged" means in these cases? Most people are sheep and they watch the news and trust what the news says to them. When the news spends 23 minutes on Trump saying he likes to grab her by the pussy, and 58 seconds on wikileaks, the elections are being rigged. More later, I have a meeting now.

Trump is calling for "Vigilantes" to "Carefully watch the vote". This, to prevent voter fraud.

@McGentrix,
Wikileaks got their information from Russia. Therefore there is a high probability that these Emails were doctored up by Russia. So why should we pay attention to them?

Just a few reminders about the way Russia works. You have marinated yourself in anti-Obama propaganda for so long that you have worked your way all the way over to the idea that Putin is a great guy, wish we had Putin running this place instead of (ugh!), Obama.

Of course, if Trump does get elected than for all intents and purposes Putin will be running America, and all you Trump supporters will be happy. Get ready for toilets that don't flush-over 20% of Russian apartments, (they call them "houses" over there, how wishful on their part), don't have running water in the house.

If you think the people responsible for the following pics are going to surrender unaltered Emails to Wikileaks to publish, you need a checkup from the neck up:

This doesn't make sense.

Trump is running for the office of president. His view of women, his sense of responsibility and his temperament are important to the job of being president. Raising questions about his fitness for the office are completely appropriate to the question of whether Trump should be elected to be president or not.

The question of whether Trump is fit to be president is completely relevant. It is a question that he raised himself, the pussy-grabbing tapes, the interviews on Howard Stern and his conduct in his business are all things that he did. And, they are all important questions.

These are things that the press should be covering.

The press is also covering weaknesses in Hillary Clinton's direct record. There has been plenty of coverage of her email server and her leaked emails have been combed through and reported on. The email server is part of Hillary's record and are legitmate questions.

This new Project Veritas video is silly and irrelevant. That is why it is not being covered seriously by anyone with any intellectual honesty.

The fact is that Hillary is going to win because although she has weaknesses in her record (emails, insensitive statements on race, and controversy over her term as Secretary of State) she is far better than Trump.

Trump will lose because he has much worse weaknesses than Hillary. That's just how the world works. Trump and his supporters would do well to stop whining.

When a bus full of people from Wisconsin show up in Illinois to vote, I do hope some one is there to make sure that they are Illinois residents and they are in the district they live in. Don't you? Don't you want Hillary to win this election fairly?

@maxdancona,
What doesn't make sense? The media has a history of degrading Trump throughout this campaign. They donate money to Hillary's campaign and they ignore the shortcomings of the DNC and her campaign. Real journalists wouldn't do that and they aren't supposed to. They are supposed to be there to report the news.

The Project Veritas videos are hardly silly and irrelevant. They are a behind the scenes look at the crimes being perpetrated by the DNC and the Clinton campaign. Her entire time in office, should she win, will be plagued by these scandals and when the Republican Congress impeaches her for her involvement, don't be surprised. Just remember how you and the other thought they silly and irrelevant.

Trump is a disgusting temperamental blowhard who doesn't need to get close to being President of the United States. Ample evidence has been shown why.

Other than Hillary we have the choice of Jill Stein who has questionable ties to Russia and has odd views on vaccine's and such subjects and then there is Johnson who doesn't think we need to know stuff about other countries.

Donald Trump and Jill Stein Are More Alike Than You Think. Here's How.

Gary Johnson: Its good to not know stuff about other countries.

Bottom line: the rest is noise, we have a choice to make and Hillary Clinton is last one standing who is capable of leading this country. She may not be a perfect choice, (I'll leave to others to decide) but right she is the best choice.

@McGentrix,
That's funny McGentrix.

I just googled for the story of the bus from Wisconsin showing up in Illinois. The source of this story, according to Fox News, is a "guy named Mike" who called the Chris Plante show.

Come on McGentrix, do you really not see how silly you are being?

Trump is losing this election because he is a brash, irresponsible, mean person who is on record trashing women and minorities. Most of us are turned off by him. There is nothing "rigged" about that.

How did this work during the last 8 years? You are, of course, assuming that there will be a Republican Congress. The Democrats are more likely than not to take the Senate and there is a chance (no one knows, but there is some polling that suggests this) that Trump drags down the Republican brand enough to give the Democrats both houses.

The point is that most Americans see Trump as unfit to be president. This is a judgement based on Trumps own words and actions. He isn't losing because the system is "rigged", he is losing because most Americans see him as racist, obnoxious and creepy enough that it overcomes any problems they might have with Hillary.

Because that is what the media feeds them every day. I am sure the media could turn Mother Theresa into a whore with a couple weeks of non-stop coverage.

Yeah, it's an example. It's hardly the only one and you know it.

Why do you doubt "Mike" yet when it comes to anything Trump you guys stumble over yourselves about how honest and trustworthy they are? Maybe not you specifically, but many here. Blickers comes to mind as an example. He's turned red from the amount of kool-aid he's consumed.
