Clicked in for today..
Stradee,
I don't mean to upset you. I don't know about the flu - it may not be like the regular everyday cold that we get - once you have a cold you will never get the same cold from it's virus again. The problem lies in the sheer number of different cold virus's - close to 400. So, if you live long enough - you will never have another cold. But, you would be very old. grin
Matrix,
Glad to hear the cleanup is going well. Keep us posted.
Matrix, thanks for asking about mr kitty. He's doing much better now after de-worming meds and vitamins. Frisky kitty announcing he's hungry for breakfast <thank god> and the rest of the herd in good shape also.
Great hearing the estate just about settled, giving you and Mr. Matrix a break finally. Been a tough year for you, and i hope by Christmas you'll be celebrating instead of dealing with lawyers and unpleasent relatives.
Thanks again for the news about the Sound. If we had to depend on the media, we'd be in big trouble. Also mailed my ballot yesterday and keeping fingers crossed for a good outcome of the elections. We've got lots of new props in CA - takes a law degree for understanding the new proposed laws.
Have a good day ~

Danon, you didn't upset me honey. Was just trying to lighten up with a bit of humor - laughing at my circumstance. You're right though. The flu really hit hard for most of us this year. Plus the storms we're having
isn't helping the situation.
Your post brought smiles - not frowns
Matrix, glad you're ok too, and wishing all wilclickers a healthy winter.

Awww, we are such a congenial bunch--I LOVE it!!
ehBeff--You ARE back, and lookie-lookie at all the beautiful places you went. Lohve the pictures. Que bonita, mi amiga.
Matrix, that is some juggling you do with your kids. I hope they appreciate you! My kids grew up in a 'deprived' household. We only had one TV--by choice, and they thought that was primitive at times. Luckily, they learned early how to amuse themselves -- my son's penchant for a chemistry set may give you an idea of what his "amusement" was like. At 4th of July this year, he was part of the Pyrotechnic team that set off the best fireworks show I have seen, short of the Hollywood Bowl. It's a hobby, not a vocation, t.g.
Stradee, glad you are mending. Dr. Dan has some good advice!
Hi to all -here or elsewhere. MA, Diane, Sumac, Aa (where is she??)
Stay well, kids.
Ul, just susan, jeanbean..."HI"

Hey kids!
jeanbean - I live almost at the western end of Lake Ontario. I grew up at the eastern end of the same lake - in the same house hamburger and mrs. hamburger still live in. It's right where the St. Lawrence and Lake Ontario meet. A beautiful area, no doubt about it. It was nice to share some of my favourite places from childhood with Setanta ( and the dogs - they loved being able to run free for hours - in places with lots of interesting new scents )
It's about a 3 hour drive, door to door, from my home to my childhood home. Setanta's trip here, and back to Ohio was the long one - about 7.5 - 9 hours one way. I was glad to get the message today saying he'd made it home again safely.

I think I've got the right map.
Now, where was your childhood?
Your present home?

Never mind that map.
I always wanted to know how they work,
but this is much simpler.
I will never get it!

This has become very interesting.
There is a drawing of all the lake depths.
those are good maps, jeanbean!
the first one is cool because i did some work for the IJC (international joint commission) about 25 years ago. the view on the second one is good - but doesn't i.d. my hometown.
my hometown is Kingston - on the east end. home now is Tranna (Toronto  )
uhoh
we need lotsa posts on this page - that map seemed to explode once it landed here!
ehBeth,
You actually worked for the IJC?
There's even a Trenton.
I live in NJ, about 12 miles from Trenton and used to live there and work there.
ehBeth,
Why do say "Tranna"?
jeanbean, I worked on a project for the IJC when I worked for the Ministry of the Environment here - back around 1977/79. Did some water quality monitoring up around Lake Superior.
We pronounce it Tranna because we want people to think we're locals
The Sandbanks Provincial Park is quite close to the Ontario Trenton. Trenton has an airforce base - Mel Torme used to spend quite a bit of time there.
Danon, i love your new avatar . . . do you have a recording of the variations on Ah, vous dirai-je Maman? Incredible . . . he was such a brat when he lived in Paris . . .
Catching up on Beth's vacation adventure (how is it I never posted to this thread before?).
Modest post to contribute to page fill-up:
E-Beth, you're originally from Kingston, Ontario? You share a hometown with the greatest living economist, Robert Mundell (Nobel Prize 1999) who's a friend of mine.
Good to see you all.
