Though I usually fuss about poll watching, the Pro-Bush numbers re: the war have stayed at about 71%, which from all sides must be viewed as pretty high.
I would hazard a guess that a great number of these folks do not take kindly to bashing the CinC while troops are on the battlefield.
Now, Democrats hurting themselves at the polls is not something I want to expend alot of time stopping, but you guys...
Don't you think any Dem candidate speaking about 'regime change' alluding to the CinC is really hurting himself? I mean, I know rabid Bush haters love it, but do you think there are many of them in that 71%? Think about where that 71% will be during a national election....

I will continue to demonize the polars because they do suck, they are vicious and they are bad for America. At this point in time we are approaching a Fascist government, very fast. This scares me dearly. We are so far from a left extreme that it is irrelevant. Yes, the right sucks!

Gee Sofia, thanks for caring - I usually find that someone who says "Though I usually fuss about poll watching," is saying, I will only use something that helps me, when it doesn't, it's irrelevant - but, anyway thanks for caring!

I think we've had enough of "go along to get along." Many of us, Sofia, believe serious harm is being done by the Bush administration in a variety of areas -- and I'm putting that as gently as I can! It's up to us to change the minds of those who are being either willfully blind or are "going along to get along" for reasons which are less than laudible. Having talked to moderate Republicans about this (I think I've mentioned this several times), I can see that if the Republicans themselves would put up a moderate candidate, they would keep the White House. Failing that (and I can't see that happening), the Dems are doing to have to find someone who tells the truth, is careful about the source of campaign funds, is smart and hardworking and fiscally conservative. I think the candidate is there and I'm working for him. I'm willing to bet at least some of the moderate Republicans will vote for him. And it won't take many...

BillW, you Grumplestilskin!
I don't like polls. I wish they didn't exist. I hate a politician who makes their decisions on polls. But, I don't refute their existance or accuracy.
I am not the enemy!!! (And, in homage to part of your statement, you are right. I never cite a poll I don't like.) Hope this makes you feel less angry.
So, how do you reconcile the high percentages of support for Bush's prosecution of the war?

"...how do you reconcile the high percentages of support for Bush's prosecution of the war?..."
Sometimes I think: "Beats me!" But then I watch the social behavior of the average American who does, most of the time, "go along to get along." That's why a little energy wave has to accompany a candidate during a campaign: one or two people say, Oh, I like that guy, and then it becomes okay to Like That Guy.

Sofia, I am not angry - it isn't anger to point out an obvious fact. Are you projecting your emotion onto me? Then you go about rejecting polls, verify my observation, damning polls and then asking me to analyze a poll. Gees, which way do you want it.
If I gave you the analysis - you won't agree with me, and then tell call me a something or other Limpbaugh name for analyzing polls.
Which way do you want it, you got me so confused!

No matter how they win, how many lies, who they kill to get there, how immoral, unjust, illegal, how much of the constitution has to be trampled? Everyone is 100% - better make it everyone - 1, because Bush Jr. sucks and should be in prison along with half of his administration (a good portion who would have been in prison if his father hadn't pardoned them and the prosecution of them had of been stopped by Democrats) and I will never be 1.

Dearie,
I am sorry. I wasn't angry, and took your sarcasm as anger. My mistake. I rarely get personally angry over political differences. Never been angry at you.
It does seem odd for an anti-poll person to ask how one feels about a poll. But, I like to be unpredictable.
Tartarin-
Thanks for your take. I don't know how 'go along to get along' translates here. A person is in the privacy of their home, and free to give a truthful answer. Do you mean they are resigned to the fact the war has started... and support it because of that? Like, it's not so much support of the war, but patriotism not to disagree with your country at war, while it's at war?
Could you elucidate on 'go along to get along'? Thank you sincerely for discussion. Helps me see your side.

Well, dismiss me if you wish, but I still think you should rename this thread to "...replacing GWBush in 2008".

ill
The question was asked and I gave my answer. The latest newsweek poll has Bush getting a 15 point jump in his approval rating. Why do you suppose that happened? IMO it happened because of our obvious success in Iraq. What is your opinion?

Sofia, Didn't really believe you were angry - I just like to turn tables, sometimes in debate - it equalizes advantage. Sarcasm, oh yes - always go there.
Now that we have everthing square, I'll answer the question that you really shouldn't be asking (ha) - war polls are always very high for the one in power. War brings out the angst in everyone, get all that old bile moving. I, for one, can't be moved by the juices - see, I've been there before and know that war sucks. Also, that it is a base response and shows uncivilized behavior.
It has to happen for proper reasons, not for Oil, military sales and to advenge daddy - or for preventative measures. These are sad and repulsive reasons. A comparison to this war is the Los Angeles Lakers playing my High School - at best, it unsportsman like!

au, (assuming i'm ill - ha) as in my reply to Sofia - "War brings out the angst in everyone, get all that old bile moving."
Their baser side responds because they can have legal violence - they love it and vote accordingly.
BTW, what is that 15% increase, I don't know where itr stands at currently!
Also, it depends upon how the question is worded. I find pollesters manipulate the questions depending on who hired them wants the questions to come out - gee, I must be the only one!

Bill
Yes you were the ill I was referring to. Typo error.
The rating is at 68%
The questions are basically the same everytime. IF the US had been doing badly the rating would, I have no doubt, gone down rather than up.
Again everybody loves a winner.

Knew it was a typo, you were squeezing between Sofia's threats and at that time it was probably rather Freudian. Yes, it is a two way street - the psycology of polls are a science for sure. Bush loves to say they mean nothing - but his team a bigger manipulator than all of them. Polls lie, if you use simple yes and no question, but the polls are so worded that the ones they want you to answer yes to include mother and apple pie words and the nos have rapists and murderers in them.
In the end, life goes on -
