The Washington Post ran an editorial yesterday on how bad the Bush deficit is, and how quickly it's getting worse. I linked it at the bottom.

Upshot: we're headed toward 10 year deficits in excess of $5 trillion dollars. Maybe more.

NOTE TO DEMOCRATS: Bush has handed you the opportunity of a lifetime to re-make the Democratic Party as the party of fiscal responsibility and tax system sobriety. Yes, that's boring compared to your current identity as the party of banging interns, but it wins elections. And if you win enough elections (and if you govern well enough), you can still bang interns and get away with it. Have a chat with Bill Clinton about this. He'll fill you in.

In any event, here's a plan: Step #1: Unite against Bush's tax cuts, and defeat them with help from moderate Republicans. Given how inexcusable Bush's proposals are (with the country running massive deficits and one step away from war) that should be fairly easy. Step #2: Propose a growth budget, and pass it with help from moderate Republicans. Step #3: Unite around a Democratic presidential candidate ASAP, form a shadow government (yes, complete with shadow cabinet members!) and show Americans how much better you would govern than the current bunch of Mayberry Machiavellis.

Or, do nothing and continue to lose.

Digging the Deficit Hole

Wise words, PDiddie, but all wasted without an alternative leader the unalligned could like and be persuaded can do better. Back to the most difficult question of all, who???

John Webb, there's a thread devoted to the question you ask:

Come on in.

And welcome to the forum.

Think I'll stay away from there PDiddie. Seems to be a lot of Right Wingers trying to bully Democrat decisions. Seems that is what is wrong with America now!

Bill wasn't being personal or unpleasant.

Why don't you take a break and come back later when you feel better?

I do consider the source ... all of them. What has gone has gone ... what is going on is less than optimal, among several participants, and serves in no way to advance the thread. Lets forget who is to blame for what and try to generate a bit less enmity and a bit more focus.

I'd appreciate the help of all involved in the effort of keeping things running smoothly. Lets work together as far as the website goes, no matter in what directions we may work in otherwise.

Thanks

BillW, All people are trying to say is to keep on topic. Personal attacks adds nothing to the discussion. I personally think you've been doing okay in that regards. c.i.

BillW, ya got me confused ... am I to infer you consider my recent interactions examples of "The Right Bullying The Left?"

I assure you, such is not my intent. I take no stand on the politics of interpersonal squabblers ... its the interpersonal squabbling I find undesireable.

I might add I find George The Younger fairly undesireable as well ... but that I've seen no practical, pragmatic, viable alternative
proposed. Those who seek to replace Bush would be advised to do a bit less interpersonal squabbling themselves, IMHO. They certainly are doing the notion no good at this point.
