George Bush pulled out of a speech to the European Parliament when MEPs wouldn't guarantee a standing ovation.

Senior White House officials said the President would only go to Strasbourg to talk about Iraq if he had a stage-managed welcome.

A source close to negotiations said last night: "President Bush agreed to a speech but insisted he get a standing ovation like at the State of the Union address."

His people also insisted there were no protests, or heckling.

If he is not replaced - I would be willing to bet
money that he WILL be shot by someone,
anyone - he seems to make enemies a mile
a minute. What a loser - how DID he sneak
into the White House?? Oh, that's right - he
did it without our approval. Guess that means
he can do just about anything without our
approval, eh?

What incredibly insightful, intelligent points you make!

I am assured by Republican Party headquarters that George is the most popular President in history (with arms manufacturers, oil companies and U.N. Members receiving billions of dollars in brib ... er... oops ... economic aid).

Surely no one would wish to shoot him ...... apart from Afghans, Iraqis, Iranians, North Koreans, the French, Germans, Russians, the Chinese, anti-war protesters and the occasional Democrat? Rolling Eyes

Statements like that could bring the FBI to your door. I suggest you consider the present climate before you make statements such as those. A word to the wise.

babs, Au makes no empty suggestion. In today's San Jose Mercury News, our good US Attorney General, John Ashcroft "argues for the consistent applicatin of the death penalty nationwide." These christians in leadership positions are doing a good job of "thou shalt not kill." c.i.

What exactly is wrong with working for a more consistent application of the federal death penalty? Seems like I hear a lot of complaints that it isn't applied consistently.

(BTW, I am personally against the death penalty.)

I'll have to work at getting a link, but I believe Ashcroft has been pressuring folks on STATE levels.

Again we disagree. I believe that under certain conditions the death penalty is called for and justified.

"I'm not saying that George W. Bush shouldn't be allowed to kill as many people as he wants. After all he is the unelected leader of the most powerful country on earth, so if he can't do anything he likes, who can? And, in the years to come, we can confidently look forward to a lot more killing all over the world - certainly a lot more than ever Saddam Hussein managed in his own country."
--Terry Jones, 'Bush goes for the Kill', observer.co.uk

Shocked Whoa...no journalist in this country would write anything like that (Prime Minister Rove would have him shot)...

Something I realized today, (hey, I'm naive) - There was a lot of hoopla when US press, Canada, Germany, France, et al attack Bush. But, there is no retraction or demand for retraction or attempt to rewrite it to make him look good. It is just acknowledged that Bush is doofus and clunky and well, uncouth. It is just accepted but everyone is to told to not metion the obvious truths!
