@Skin Rip,
thanks for doing this

it's definitely kept me paying a bit more attention to the games than I'd anticipated

Bronze is looking good if you ask me.

@McGentrix,
Yeah - we have bronze clinched. I'm kicking myself for not going with GBR instead of USAM. I figured USAW would be the best, and USAM/GBR would be a toss up. GBR has been outstanding.

I have a tie for first right now with no remaining events that can change the outcome.

@markr,
Yep, I was leading by 2 points before Kenya go gold in Men's Marathon, at which point fbaezer took the lead by 3.

But then the Czech Republic took silver in Mountain Bike:

I have us at a tie too.

@wheel158,
You won in group D which is the tie breaker.

@markr,
But I got a silver from the Azerbajaini ( actually Cuban) boxer!
And also a wrestler.

@markr,
There's not a tiebreaker for Gold. I'm OK with a tie if that's the result... Smile

@wheel158,
Have things changed since this rule was added in 2004?

http://able2know.org/topic/29980-1#post-821294

7. In the event participants tie in the number of points, the winner will be the one who makes the most points among Group D olympic national teams. If the tie continues, then the winner will be the one who makes the most points among Group C. If it is still a tie, the winner will be whoever makes the most points among Group B.

@fbaezer,
Interesting: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/19/sports/olympics/weight-lifter-stripped-of-rio-medal-for-doping.html?_r=0

Note that we both have Colombia in our Group D countries...

I'm wondering how many more medals will be stripped in the coming days.

@wheel158,
Funny that this should come up. In 2004 I came in second - three points behind first. While researching picks for 2016, I came across some disqualifications that happened years after 2004. Just for kicks, I reran the numbers and I am now in first by three points.

@wheel158,
The site that I get my data from (rio2016.com) already has the Colombian as the bronze winner.

@markr,
I think we should hold a follow up medal ceremony for you!

The same thing happened when I played ESPN's Fantasy Olympics. I think the Chinese got caught doping back then...

Have you tested markr for Prediction Enhancing Steroids? Like the 2017 edition of the Grays Sports Almanac?
