Beijing 2022 Fantasy Olympics

I'm going to kick off this year's contest by pasting an edited version of @markr's rules from last year's contest.

Each country will be assigned a cost based on the 2/2/22 update at this site:
https://www.gracenote.com/virtual-medal-table/
Countries that aren't listed cost 0.50.
Each contestant will receive a budget which is 343.5 for this Olympics.
Select as many countries as you wish without exceeding the budget.
You're not required to use your whole budget.
Scoring is the same as in past contests: gold=5, silver=3, bronze=1.
Ties will be broken in favor of the cheaper team.
Country costs are listed below.
One entry per person (you may be a proxy for friends).

Since we're announcing this so late, entries must be submitted before Friday, February 4 at 8:00pm US ET (GMT-5). That's before any of the post-Opening Ceremonies events begin on Saturday morning in Beijing.

Please let me know about any errors in my data or if I've inadvertently set this up differently from the past couple of contests.

Looks good. Thanks for doing this.

My spreadsheet is almost ready. It's currently pulling results from the 2018 games and the A2K teams are from the 2021 games. A2K teams will get added as they come in. Results will be available after I see something show up in Wikipedia.

I've made some progress on the website. It's now pretty much waiting for the same stuff as the spreadsheet.

Once I've got either of them displaying results from Wikipedia or the official site, I'll share the link info.

I'm traveling on Friday and attending a family celebration on the weekend, so I may get off to a bit of a slow start. I will bring a laptop in the hope that I can get something up ASAP.

Hopefully, we'll get enough people to make this worthwhile.

We're about 90 minutes away from our deadline for picks to be submitted. Seeing as we've received very few entries so far, let me suggest that we move the deadline to 2:45 am ET tonight, which is the beginning of the first medal event.

The events before that are qualifying and round-robin events, and so are similar to the ones that have been contested before opening ceremonies. Hopefully this will get us a few more entries.

If we're still low on contestants, we could consider handling later submissions on an ad hoc basis, perhaps by not allowing them to pick a country that has already won a medal, or not giving credit for medals won before the pick was submitted (if that doesn't mess up @markr's coding too much).

I'll continue to monitor for new entries, but the spreadsheet and the website both seem to be pulling data from wikipedia correctly.
