Who's playing Fantasy Olympics this year?
How it Works
Each contestant will receive a budget of 833.50.
Each country is assigned a cost in the table below (listed by NOC code).
Countries that aren't listed cost 0.50.
Russian and Belarussian athletes competing under the "IAN" code are ineligible to be picked, both because it is difficult to track them and in support of the IOC's uncharacteristically moral decision to ban participation by the Russian and Belarussian NOCs.
Select as many countries as you wish without exceeding the budget.
You're not required to use your whole budget.
Scoring is the same as in past contests: gold=5, silver=3, bronze=1.
Ties will be broken in favor of the team with the lowest cost.
One entry per person (you may be a proxy for friends).
How To Enter
Post your list of countries to this forum. (When submitting your picks, it will make data entry easier if you list your NOCs, not the country names. Using both would be fine.)
Entries must be submitted before Saturday, July 27 at 2:30am US ET (GMT-4), which is when the post-Opening Ceremonies events begin on Saturday morning in Paris.
Late entries will be accepted at my discretion, but would be heavily disfavored if they include anyone who's already won a medal.
Prizes
For your entry fee of $0, you have a chance to win bragging rights among your fellow competitors and among anyone else you wish to show off to. Win or lose, you'll likely find greater enjoyment in following Uzbek boxers or Ecuadorian racewalkers.

Thanks to @markr for getting me set up with his score tracking spreadsheet, which I'll link to by Saturday. Any errors will almost certainly be mine, not his.
