That's excellent - they don't sell them with such a top speed here in Europe.

And welcome to A2K!

When I was young and foolish about 90 mph. It was pretty easy to attain that speed in the 8 cylinder horsepower laden auto's of the 50's

80 to 90 mph is the average speed in southern California.

Walter, when I drive in Germany I never seem to be able
to speed any longer. Either the Autobahn is so congested
or my rental car is limited in its abilities. But one of these
days......

I LOVE SPEED!!!!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO JOIN THE 200 CLUB!!!!!

All it takes is money, experience, and plenty of attention to detail. Situational awareness coupled with conditioned, autonomic response gets to be a real big deal. You ain't really a member if you can't show up for regular meetin's

I used to have no qualm about topping out cars, but now I don't want to kill my insurance. As a motorcyle rider though, I think the top I've hit is 100mph, but maybe for a second. I have no desire to hit 175 on two wheels. Must be a pretty huge rush though. Bikes have a larger error than cars, too...read higher than they're really going.

When I'm alone, my average speed on autobahns is about 90 mph with top speed up to 140.

With Mrs. Walter on board, the average speed is about 88 mph - with top speed up 110

And people on the autobahn actually pull out of the way when you approach them from behind.

Most of America needs a collective bitch slap when it comes to this department.

True Slappy, but here you can pass them from the right,
in Germany you can't.

67 mph on a bicycle, tailing a semi truck (18-speed Miyata 1000 with higher gearing).

204 mph on a motorcycle, on a slight downhill with 20mph tailwind. A stock 2000 Suzuki Hayabusa. Had to use a GPS logging data to a PalmPilot, within +-1 mph.

165 mph in a train (The TGV, 20 years ago).

I haven't tried high speed in a car though. I usually go for minivans so I can take a nap anywhere I go.

I couldn't pass the brain-amputee victim yesterday in his gayous little Miata when he was in the PASSING lane going under the speed limit with a car directly in front/to his right yesterday. I thought the cars behind me were going to run me over.

I wonder if that penny that accidentally slipped out of my sunroof ended up hitting his windshield when I finally did get around.

How can I drive so fast
but not get anywhere?

It tears my heart out to think
of all the feelings I left behind.

Pavement.

I went to 120+ downhill in my new car (05 Altima SL). Same hill as last time but the extra horses helped.

If he's going to speed he'd better not drive a red car. Isn't there a big correlation between tickets and red cars?

I'll bet he got the silver (not the smoke) and the charcoal interior. I'd pick satin white and blonde, but the emerald looks good too.

Here are the colors...

Did you get the leather sport package, Craven? I love leather seats.

I remember reading once the least-ticketed automobile category was light to medium blue station wagons and full-size 4-door sedans, with white and silver colors in the same body styles running close aboard.

Thanks, I drive fast but not recklessly. I don't know if that makes sense...

Felt like it could do a bit more, dunno how much was the decline.

Polished pewter, aka metal puke. I bought it at night and it looked charcoal.

I hear this a lot, and wonder if the big revelation should be that people who speed tend to buy flashy coloured cars...

That's the one I would have chosen if they had it on the lot right then, but I bought a slightly uglier colour.

Yeah, leather seats were a big reason I wanted to get a new car.

Craven, go down Hwy 56 on a Sunday morning, there
is virtually no traffic, no police in sight and you can drive at a relative high speed (100 +) at great length.

Congratulation on your new car!
