If I were young, I would continue to play, after winning 2 million. But, at my age, 2 million would tide me over nicely.

I decided to let it hit 2 bil before I win it. Or maybe a Brazilian.

Were it to hit 2 billion and I were a bank, I would buy every single ticket number so that I was guaranteed a win. Even if someone else hit my number I would still win. If two others hit the number, I would be about break even.

175.2 million different combinations, $3 a ticket... lets see, carry the 4... $525.6 million dollars to win... so yeah, that would pay off. After taxes and you were only winner, you'd profit around 1 billion dollars.

On CBC last night, they said the new jackpot is estimated to be $1.3 billion.

The TV news guy just said that you cannot buy every combination of the Powerball, because there is not enough time to run all the tickets before the drawing.

I think a lot of people have trouble understanding how much a billion is. That is a LOT of money. The interest on one billion dollars would be sixty million a year, enough to hire 1000 Americans at the US median salary. With one billion dollars, you could endow a small to medium sized private university. (Wake Forest for example has an endowment of $1 billion.) The reality is that you really can't spend that kind of money, it just continues to grow on its own.
