What will you do when you win $6oo or 700 million in the Powerball?

@edgarblythe,
When I leave work, I'll grab another set of 5 tickets.

I just realized that the drawing was last night and went to see if there was a winner.

It's 7:00 AM the next morning and all the Powerball website says right now is "Results Pending".

They must have had a LOT of ticket purchases in order to overload their system that badly.

EDIT:
Associated Press wrote:
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- The Powerball drawing was delayed Monday and it's likely that the official results won't be known until later Tuesday, the Multi-State Lottery Association said. The record-breaking $1.9 billion Powerball drawing was delayed because a participating lottery had issues processing sales, officials said.

"Powerball requires all 48 participating lotteries to submit their sales and play data prior to the winning numbers being selected. Once Powerball receives the outstanding submission, the drawing can proceed," the lottery said in a statement to The Associated Press.

Nearly three hours after the scheduled 10:59 p.m. EST drawing, the association told the AP: "It's against our policy to name the lottery that is experiencing the delay."

The winning numbers and recorded video of the drawing will be posted to the Powerball website and YouTube channel. Players should hold onto their tickets, the statement said.

Perhaps the drawing hasn't even taken place yet??

@edgarblythe,
All I found on the web was "Winning numbers for the record $1.9 billion Powerball jackpot have yet to be announced after drawing was delayed"

@edgarblythe,
I forgot to buy those tickets yesterday after work. Hopefully no one won in this weird delayed lotto pick. Wondering if that's the case, how far spread new conspiracy theories will be born from the "security protocol delay." Has that happened before?

@tsarstepan,
I don't know. Can't understand why it had to be delayed. Hopefully somebody will spill when they can.

@edgarblythe,
I'm guessing they caught their server being hacked. Very likely North Korea, Iran, or Russia as perpetrator. Evil or Very Mad

@tsarstepan,
You are likely right. That's a lot of money to let some random shmoo collect if it can be diverted to a more worthy person, ie, somebody that doesn't need more money.

@jcboy,
I haven't verified this but someone on Facebook posted no winners, Wednesday's drawing is now 2.3 Billion.

@jcboy,
Now I wonder why they got that information from because Wednesday's drawing now says 20 million which means someone did win! And in my state, California.

@jcboy,
I'd be happy with 20 million, but then again, I have simple tastes.

@glitterbag,
Right? nobody needs two billion, from what I've read only one ticket was sold, hopefully it was a group of several people that chipped in to buy the tickets.

Bad news. Winner in California.

There have been a couple times when, after the numbers were drawn, for a day or so they could not announce whether anyone won because of a computer problem.

This is the first time that I am aware of that the drawing itself was delayed.

You’d hope that anyone who won over a couple of million would spread it around to a lot of people or causes.

I sort of wish it wouldn’t get quite so big.

It’s like a metaphor.

Jackpot size has never affected my play. I always buy one ticket at a time.

@edgarblythe,
How the $2 billion Powerball jackpot winner should protect their newfound wealth
1. Don't announce that you won the lottery ... to anyone
DUH! Laughing Rolling Eyes
2. Seek the advice of both an attorney and an accountant
3.
Quote:
Decide on taking either the lump sum or installments
With the consultation of their attorney and accountant, one of the first decisions winners should make is whether to take the lump sum of lottery winnings or the broken-down annual payments.

Some financial experts say that spreading your winnings over a 29-year period results in a minor investment gain, according to Newsy.

However, others suggest taking the winnings in a lump sum may be the best option. "You don't really want to rely on [the state] sending you a check every year because it's like winning the lottery every year, so you go through the same emotions, you go through the same concerns over anonymity," lottery lawyer Kurt Panouses told Newsy.

Ortega says it's a matter of the winner making a fiscally responsible decision of trusting themselves with taking the lump sum or taking the longer route and getting paid in installments over time
