Awright!

It looks like everyone is staying at the Howard Johnson on PanAmerican freeway. Basic single rate is 39.95, if still available. I arrive on the 24th, and I believe Diane, Dyxlexia, and Joanne get there the same day. Fbazer gets in at 10:00 p.m. on the 23. Get the reservation nailed down soon.

Very Happy ... Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy A -22

No need to read the entire thread. Most relevant information posted in April, beginning on page 12 of the thread. Accomodations information is on page 12, and I think you will find useful (or at least interesting posts) on almost every page past that point.

Natalie is looking into catering at least one New Mexican style dinner to be served from buffet. Tamales, enchaladas, chili, refritos (refried beans), arrozo (rice), etc. These dishes can be picked up from several suppliers on the day of the meal. The amounts needed are problematical, and dependant upon how many diners and how much they are likely to eat. A half dozen folks who love spicey food can eat far more than twenty who avoide pepperone as too spicy. In order to assure enough food we must expect some surplus. If enough people are too timid to eat our local fare, I suppose we could also supply a bucket of fried chicken, some pizza, and green salad. That would complicate matters as to amounts of food needed, cost and payment. You folks need to weigh in on this. If this works out, we'll divide the cost among the participants.

Roger,

Hypothetical. Hypothetical. I have no idea how many will eventually show up. Even if you count the people who have indicated they are coming, we have no idea of how many spouses, significant others, etc. who may accompany them. Some surprises must be anticipated. I believe the probable number as of this date stands at 10-12, including Natalie and myself. We have easily entrained 35-40 people at Corazon in the past (a previous owner is reported to have held parties for over a hundred), so the actual number is of little consequence ... except if we are going to feed the regiment, we need to know how much food to order. It really would be much easier to eat out, though the argements for catering are pretty persuasive.

I try never to engage without ample reserves.

BTW, Dyslexia, Diana and Joanne have indictaed that they expect to arrive mid-afternoon on the 23rd. Corazon will be available from mid-morning 23, until late-afternoon on the 26th.

We mustn't assume, I think, that we'll all do everything that's planned. Some of us may want to be with the group some and at other times go our own ways. That's the way I anticipate participating. So if it's too big a risk to order food and not know if you'll be left with too much of the expense, we should plan something a bit more flexible. I'm fine with eating out. However I can also, gladly commit to paying my share for a dinner together whether I attend the dinner or not or whether I eat much or not (which I don't.) I'm also not hard to please about food. I love lots of different kinds of food. (Just no sushi please. I do like my food cooked, at least a little.) So anything but raw meat/fish is fine with me. I'm flexible. I want to relax and enjoy meeting a2k friends, anything other than that is negotiable.

Asherman, who do we know for sure is coming? I'll likely arrive on the Thursday afternoon as well and be leaving on Monday. But that may change as I see how this all works out.

Lola.

A number of "events/activities" are described starting on around page 12. Please review those pages to get an idea of some activities that are available in addition to visiting with other participants. What do you think you might like to do?

So far, we expect 10-12 A2K participants. That number is expected to grow in the days ahead. Not everyone has sent a clear signal, though several have indicated that they may be able to attend. We have no idea how many spouses or significant others will accompany the participants. It really isn't very important, all are welcome who show up.

Plans have been laid to accomodate almost any continguency that is likely to arise. The more we know of what our guests like, or would prefer, the better we can help them have an enjoyable visit.

There is at least one good Japanese restaurant nearby, and they do serve sushi if that's what you like. We haven't been impressed with the Chinese places we've tried, though a new one just opened down by the I-25 that has drawn large crowds. There are also Indian, Korean, and Thai places available.

Within a couple of miles of Corazon there is a very good Greek place. There are two Italian places along San Mateo that we eat at with some regularity. Down along I-25 there are a number of chain restaurants that are pretty good. There is a Landrey's for seafood, a PapaGuayo's (?) for New Orleans cuisine, the Blue Corn Mexican restaurant, and the Texas Land and Cattle Co. for steaks. There are others that slip my mind at the moment.

Rob's Ribs has a wonderful spicy BBQ sauce, but we tend to prefer the County Line up on Tramway. There are other BBQ places, but these two are the best we've found so far.

Dinners at the local casinos are also good values, if you don't mind the gambling atmosphere that prevades them. The Sandia and the Isletta Casinos are very much like Las Vegs. They have all the games, and feature well-known nightclub and musical acts.

Asherman, I will be alone, my husband being a lovable but antisocial man.

So far, a quiet setting sounds wonderful for visiting. I don't eat too much--having to lose weight gained during menopause--and I like most anything, especially Mexican food (not much to be found in CT or FL). I worry that Natalie will be cooking and working to feed us. Could we all pitch in and order something to be delivered? Whatever the decision, I'll be happy to divide the cost of the food.

Blatham! We really must have an embedded Canadian to keep track of the goings on. With fbaezer and you, we should get an excellent and objective picture of the gathering.

Lola, hooray!! I can hardly wait to meet you and all the others. Roger and I are old hands at this now, since going to the Florida gathering, but everyone else will be new to me.
