commonwealth games
if anyone is interested, we could do another competition for the commonwealth games aswell as the winter games
Congrats to all!!!!!!!!!!!
2008 are 4 years away from now, but anyway When are the Commonwealth games due?
Re: commonwealth games
For the Winter Games in Turin 2006 , if possible, yes.
comm games
the commonwealth games are in 2006 in Melbourne (Australia) 15-26 march
Ci vediamo a Torino 2006!
Greece, Kenya, Algeria... Iceland!
How stupid of me.
We don't get a medal even in fantasy sports.
Congratulations to the winners.
I guess I get to be the whiner.
You don't whine very badly, Laeknir..
besides you faired better than a bunch of us.
Hmm, some people I picked got punted away for drugs...or line violations! (Russian women, Germany). At least I think I picked them, it was so long ago...
I would have tied for gold (and won the tiebreaker) if Francis Obikwelu had run the men's 200M for his native Nigeria instead of Portugal. He took silver. Oh well.
Torino...
I still would like to see Torino, though I was pretty close once, when I checked out Ivrea. I'd like to see the Ferrari museo, which I think is there, and the great caffes. But, maybe not at Olympics time....

me, I'd like to see old Ferraris. You are welcome to see the business offices, you may learn something useful for the rest of us.
Isn't the Ferrari Museum at Maranello (Modena)?
Galleria Ferrari, Maranello
If there is a Ferrari Museum in Turin, I consider it a heresy!
There's something there... I'll have to go search, but not today, still saving abuzz threads.
Hey, you guys are still here? I love the Olympics and the fantasy game, but I think I can wait four more years because, in two years, I will still be recovering from overdosing by the relentless coverage of this Olympic. Besides, both Winter Olympic and the Commonwealth just don't have the same depth and breadth as the Summer Games. Even the more publicized Winter Games are too regional for me -- basically a Western European and North American (ex Mexico) event.
Sorry for being so cynical. It's just a fact that no sporting events can even come close to the Summer Olympics.
I was just looking at my pre-game prediction.

I did miss Japan badly though. Who could have thought of Japan to double their medal count and triple their gold?
On Wednesday NPR had a story about an economist who three weeks ago predicted gold medals by formulating a country's previous medal count and its per capita income. He was very close, but he missed Japan's count by half.

That economist, among other scientific predictors, inspired our fantasy gold and silver medallists, infrablue.
They say it ain't over 'til it's over.
It's not official yet, but the horse of Irish equestrian jump gold medalist Cian O'Connor did not pass the second doping test, either.
If and when this is official, the gold medal will be stripped. The new gold medalist would be Rodrigo Pessoa, from Brazil. Chris Kappler, from the USA would be silver and Marco Kutcher, from Germany, would be bronze.
And you know what? That would mean I'd share third place with My Own Username (he gets 1 more point for Germany; I get 2 points for Brazil).
Perhaps it's my destiny. Glory will arrive too late.
