My predictions
Ok. Here are my predictions. I had a really hard time picking the bottom Olympic teams...

Group A> USA male, Germany

Group B> Cuba, UK, South Korea

Group C> Brazil, Kenya, Mexico, Canada, Norway

Group D>Columbia, Argentina, Finland, Austria, Portugal

sorry I copied some of your picks but it was really hard to make my picks, my "geolympic" knowledge it's really lousy, by the way can anyone post the link to the SI article?

why? I think we should let people vote until first competition starts, even until first medals (around 11 in the morning, August 14th, Greek time).

MOU's proposal makes sense, even if competitions have already started (football).

New deadline for inscriptions: 23:59, August 13 CST (7:59, August 14, Greek time)

I'll edit the original post.

welcome douglashuang.

There are all sorts of predictions. There is also one made by the accounting firm PriceWaterhouseCooper, based on past performances, population, economics and a bit of history (excommunist countries have an edge).
Unluckily for Mexico, I think it will fail. PWC gives us 4 more medals than SI.
It gives India 10 medals, while Cazenueve's event by event analysis gives them only one.

I don't know what ECON is. Can somebady explain pls?
The link to the PWC http://www.pwc.com/extweb/ncpressrelease.nsf/docid/6F4863E26F5434FC85256EE7006BD177

I think it reallies to heavily in the "politics factor", but anyway it's quite interesting the analysis they make.

All in all, a good day for those who bet on China, and not a good one for those who did on Germany.
