McG, you're a riot. Laughing
But you are wrong. 4 months in a hostile country is 4 months longer than I ever spent. George Bush's job wasn't the safest, so there's no cause to slight him either. I hardly think it necessary to have spent time in a uniform to have opinions about anything, but it is shameful to slight the service of someone who was wounded while defending our collective ass. Idea I don't much like Kerry either, but a legitimate war hero he is... and that group of veterans standing behind Max last night sure made me think. Were I steering Kerry's campaign, I'd spend plenty of time focusing on that too. If I didn't think Bush more likely to continue taking the fight to the world's enemies, I'd probably spend another vote on demonstrating my dissatisfaction. I really miss Ross Perot.
Young Reagan's speech wasn't lost on me either. Idea

They saw up close when their lives were at risk that this man is a leader, that he has courage, determination, and he would never leave any American behind."

Kind of invalidates Edwards quote, doesn't it?

yeah, except for four years experience as the President of the United States of America. Hardly worth noting.

I bet you feel the same way about Jimmy Carter.....

Reagan ran on his record, not what he did 30 years prior. Reagan was a much better candidtae than Kerry is.

Laughing Rolling Eyes

And some people will just make up some **** to try to avoid admitting they are wrong.

Can you point me toward some of those 'people'? I might be up for some of that, especially if they are on sale...

At the very least, I could probably re-"sale" their daughters at a significant mark-up, taking advantage of some good ol' Republican capitalism...

...at any rate, if this is just a Fox News "Some people say" meme that I have learned something about recently (which translates as "pulling a non-sequiter outta one's rectum"), then never mind...

...OTOH, if you really do know where I can get a few crack addict's daughters, irrespective of price, please post said contact data here in this thread.

I am sure several of us would be grateful.

I'm just trying to figure out how Ray-gun was a better candidate. Wait! I know...he turned in a bunch of innocent people when he was president of SAG. I remember now. And how about his war record? He was on some dangerous duty wasn't he?
The only candidate I would vote for over Kerry is George Bush. Senior! Now there's a candidate.

Yeah - some people. Take for example, Reverend David Alston from South Carolina, who does not only recount stories of extreme courage the rare times he talks of the time Kerry was his skipper in Vietnam - but apparently, even gets his mum to lie for him to the Rock Hill Herald, too!

Quote:
"David joined the Navy," [Ida] Alston said. "He didn't have to. My daughter, Ida Mazetta, wanted to go to college. He told me that the only way we could afford it was for him to join up and save some money."

Ida Mazetta went to college. David Alston went to Vietnam and got shot in the head and shoulder, his mother said.

He lived and came home to Boyd Hill and his sweetheart, Lunice Lowery. They married and had two sons. Alston worked at a box factory, then managed the Wendy's restaurant on Cherry Road. [..] Alston, who grew up attending Mount Hebron Baptist Church, became an ordained minister in the mid 1990s and preaches part time. Lunice died in 1998, but her mother, Beulah, still lives in Rock Hill. [..]

While her son-in-law rarely talked of war, Lowery said he talked of Kerry and admired his courage.

"He didn't like to talk about it, so we didn't press him," Lowery said. "But David always appreciated what he (Kerry) did for them. He talked real nice about him."

Many young men died in the Vietnam War, but David Alston didn't and his mother says that's good enough for her where Kerry is concerned.

"Kerry was his lieutenant," Ida Alston said, "His commander. He had nothing bad to say about him (Kerry). He said he was a good man. Very, very good."

It is possibly a comment composed entirely of stupidity or a completely dense, absolutely unremarkable example of this writer's lack of comprehension. Seems about the normal level to me.
