A jury after a full trial found the cop innocent and therefore if the town decided to get rid of him they would need to paid him to leave.

It anyone have a problem with the outcome they would need to take it up with the jurors who hear all the evidence.

Beaumont police arrested a white male and were questioning a handful of other individuals at a West End home just hours after an apparent racially-charged shooting at the campaign headquarters of Jefferson County Sheriff candidate Zena Stephens.

Stephens told 12News she was standing outside her headquarters with a group of people in the 500 block of S. 11th Street when a white male in a white Jeep pulled up and shouted "f*** the ni**ers". Seconds later, the man fired a shot into a front window of the building, shattering the glass.

No one was hurt and no bullet was immediately found. Police believe the weapon used may have been a pellet or Airsoft gun. Stephens said roughly 20 other people were inside at the time.

Around 10:45 p.m. Monday 12News was outside a home in the 8500 block of Newfield as Beaumont police arrested a white male wearing a white t-shirt and shorts. Also outside the home was an older-model white Jeep with the same license plate as the shooter's, a witness told 12News.

VALDOSTA, Ga. — About 30 black students who were standing silently at the top of the bleachers at Donald Trump’s rally here Monday night were escorted out by Secret Service agents who said the presidential candidate had requested their removal before he began speaking.

The sight of the students, who were visibly upset, being led outside by law enforcement officials created a stir at a university that was a whites-only campus until 1963.

“We didn’t plan to do anything,” said a tearful Tahjila Davis, a 19-year-old mass media major, who was among the Valdosta State University students who was removed. “They said, 'This is Trump’s property; it’s a private event.' But I paid my tuition to be here.”

Trump has been regularly heckled by protesters at his campaign rallies, but tensions have increased after he came under fire on Sunday for not immediately condemning support from a prominent white supremacist.

BEAUMONT — A 19-year-old Vidor man is custody for reportedly shooting at the campaign headquarters of Zena Stephens where witnesses said he shouted racial slurs on Monday night.

Police in Beaumont said Adam Carver made a statement regarding the shooting and was arrested for deadly conduct and may be a suspect in other crimes where businesses, cars and signs were damaged.

Ray Beck, the lone republican candidate in the race for Jefferson County Sheriff, issued a statement late Monday regarding the incident.

“Earlier tonight (Monday), I learned about the incident at Zena Stephen’s campaign office. I am glad to hear that Zena, family, and campaign staff are safe. In this day and age, it is appalling to know that people can act with such malice. I hope to see this issue prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. For now I am thankful to hear that no one was harmed. My thoughts are with Zena and her campaign,” Beck said in his statement.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — When Los Angeles police officers fire at suspects, their targets are disproportionately black or mentally ill, according to the most comprehensive data on the use of force ever compiled by the department and released to the public Tuesday.

Of the 223 people shot at by Los Angeles police between 2011 and 2015, 77 were black, according to the report. That means 35 percent of those shot at by police were black, while blacks make up just 9 percent of the city's population.

Meanwhile the number of mentally ill people shot by police increased from five in 2014 to 14 last year. The 14 mentally ill people represent 37 percent of all the people shot by Los Angeles police in 2015, according to the report, which the police department presented Tuesday to the city's police commission, a civilian oversight panel.

As for the sharp increase in the number of mentally ill people shot by police last year, Beck said there's no one explanation but that overall, officers had more interactions with the mentally ill as the number of homeless people in the city has increased.

Given that there are more murders being done by blacks against other blacks to the point that the leading cause of deaths of young black males is homicide and is all out of proportion compare to other groups that the police are shooting this subset of blacks out of proportion also would follow. We need to get the black on black homicide rate down and other numbers such as police shootings should go down also.
