Hey guys, make some space in here. The chicks are coming!
America Is Losing Religion: Why More and More Women Are Embracing Non-Belief What's behind some interesting new data on religion.
Atheists were abuzz this week over Pew Research releasing new numbers showing that the number of “nones” (people who have no religion at all) in the U.S. is soaring to record levels, making up a whopping 56 million Americans. In just the past seven years, the percentage of Americans who say they have no specific religious affiliation went from 16 percent to 23 percent. While nones are a diverse group—some are atheist, some agnostic, some believe in God but don’t follow a religion—this explosive rejection of organized religion certainly means America is becoming a country where it is safer and more acceptable to be a non-believer.

@hingehead,
Both Pew in the U.S. and Ipsos in Canada have also reported that about ten percent of people professing a religious affiliation report that they don't believe that there is a god.

@rosborne979,
It is kind of hilarious--while i was searching for images like that, i came across quite a few images of church advertising displays calling upon their members to bring in atheists for conversion.

I think they get the most "points" for converting atheists. Apparently converting someone from a different religion is just nudging them from one track to another, but an atheist...
