I'm thinking Bogbogbog could save himself a lot of typing time by getting a "I am ******* nuts" tattoo on his forehead.

He should probably get his end times prophecy added to this 200+ list: http://www.bible.ca/pre-date-setters.htm

At least he's not alone, and hey, someone's gotta be right eventually.

@ehBeth,
Well, it does say Satan would appear as an angel of light in the last days.

Cheers!

@ehBeth,
Set scolded me and the rest of us a while back, for feeding a troll, after a comment by me.

His right, natch, at the least because this is his thread.

Figure out what you want - feed bin or shut off feed.

@Johnjohnjohn,
I don't watch teevee, ass wipe. That's because i prefer to read--you know, cure ignorance? Oh yeah, you wouldn't know about that, would you?

They've been peddling that end of days bullsh*t for almost 2000 years now. You clowns never get it.

We probably shouldn't be feeding this troll, but up to this point, he's rather entertaining. He's one of the more stupid and predictable ones. I'm sure we'll soon get bored with him.

Well, this is refreshing (to me) -

Arian Foster, running back for the Houston Texans, came out as openly secular on ESPN today... interesting for the apparent rareness in the often religiously demonstrative National Football League, and greater rareness of any players talking about it to media. There's a video about it on ESPN today.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/

No closer link that I can find, but the video is on that page now if anyone is interested.

@ossobuco,
Very refreshing... I get all my theological advice from football players.

Sorry, once in awhile I can't resist saying something. I usually only come here for the funny cartoons & memes.

@hingehead,
That was GOOD! (OK, that last frame was a bit speculative)

So what is more important to you. Your beloved, or the entire universe (or 'multiverse' if you prefer)?

@Leadfoot,
I'm not a deity, billions of people are not affected by my preferences.

I actually thought it was better without citing the bible verses, as great way of displaying the incredible anthropomorphic bent of theism.

Not to mention how much more fricking amazing everything is if you don't view it through the convoluted writings of ancient goatherds.

That is really interesting to me. Why would it bother you to think that God would be a lot like us?

Actually this really interests me, why would you think God would be anything like us? Why would an omniscient, omnipresent 'thing' create everything but favour one massively flawed species in an 'infinite' universe - and I use 'favour' guardedly given the genocidal bent it's had toward us. Why would it take sides in human conflicts when the fault lies with the manufacturer? How does perfection create such imperfection?

Why burn bushes, then suddenly stop? Why have something 'very important to say' and then stop saying it?

The notion that god is anything more than the creation of ancient minds flailing about with ontology and coming up with a tool for social control seems ludicrous when the 'writings' are weighed up against observable reality - more so when you consider the history of how we got to this point in spite of those writings and those who wielded them.

I don't know about the 'taking sides' thing. I see no evidence of that. It looks like he has a hand's off policy, like he's waiting for the 'time's up buzzer' to go off.

It's just an assumption but if I had the ability to create living beings, I'd create them in a form that I could relate to. A form that would be interesting, could think for themselves, be independent, not just robots, have free will and make their own decisions, and **** up if they get it wrong. In other words, just like us.

But yeah, if some became destructive of themselves and others, I'd cull the herd. I'd wipe out every one of them that decided it was better to destroy than to build. I'd have no mercy if they saw that path as better than mine. That's actually what I do with the things I build that don't work out.

Is that perfection? Is that imperfect? I don't know. But it's a lot like me. I can relate to that.

Well you certainly haven't read the bible too closely.

Um, if you accept that 'he' created all living things, what makes you think bipedal hominids are most like him? He could have given turtles more intelligence. Or whales less. That just seems weird. God has two legs and two arms and a sweet tooth. And an ability to be psychopathic and/or angelic. Just like humans.

Wow for a theist you certainly don't expect much perfection from your god - he sounds like little more than a bored kid with an erector set.

Wow. Not sure if that's hubris or something else. A god that fucks up as badly as that and his happy to wipe out lives to cover up his mistakes certainly isn't worthy of my devotion, or even respect.

Why...when the possible existence of a god is being discussed...

...do people so often go into a discussion of the cartoon god of the Bible?

Is it because it is easy?

There may be a "god." What we humans call "the universe" may be the creation of something that existed before "the universe"...and "the universe" may serve a purpose for this "whatever."

Yeah...the "god" of the Bible is probably a lot closer to an evil variation of Mickey Mouse than it is to what a "GOD" would be like...

...but the god of the Bible probably should not even be mentioned when discussing the possibility of gods.

For the people who tout that god...just offer sympathies. They are reacting to fears of the unknown the way ancient, relatively unsophisticated humans did millennia ago...and sympathies are appropriate.

Well ****, I was hoping for a reasonable response instead of a 'cartoon God' Richard Dawkins quote.

I'll try again. Do you really think 'created in the image of God' means the physical human form?
