a) I did read all of it (in the original version)

b) I didn't know that you are a British subject.

I'm an American citizen.

Just wondering, because you commentated a British Parliament Debate and your answer

was referring to that.

I assume that America has paid the lion's share of the cost of the last dozen years worth of misguided western policies in the Balkans. Tell me if that's wrong...

Bill W, see how much misinformation there was about ole Stand? Firat he wasnt in the UNion, he was a Confederate Cherokee.
Ive had this running post "exchange" with Setanta about the significance of the TransMississippi confederacy in its place in history. I just brought it up when I started reading thhese weird posts

I was going from memory, I thought that Oklahoma came into the war on the side of the Confederacy and Stand was on the other side. After reading http://www.ok-history.mus.ok.us/enc/rfgscw.htm I remembered that it was each tribe for themselves. Thanks for clarifing Smile

You certainly can tell me the amount of this

(Please don't quote the NATO sums, they are paid all NATO-members!)

However and nevertheless, what had that to do with the parliament discussion in the UK, you quoted from and referred?

Completely agree to your second response - same here [well, actually not really now, but surely in two years], and same with me

I just read about your new immigration law! Was in today's newspaper. Sounds like its got some flaws, but nevertheless, not bad, especially for these here times in Europe ... respect!

From what I understand, your asylum law will actually be made a little more generous, with new provisions that allow asylum-seekers also to claim refugee status if its not the state that was persecuting them but other groups, guerrillas for example ... thats pretty good. Here, you have to show that it's the government that was persecuting you. Hence people being sent back to scenes of chaos, where there hardly is any state power (e.g. Somalia) - after all, even if they fled scenes of fighting and killing, it wasnt the state that persecuted them ...

And your new law also allows for women to apply for asylum on the grounds of gender persecution, a point the Greens have been pushing for, is that right? Good.

Do you have any of that "safe country" nonsense? Here, the government assigns some countries as inherently safe - sometimes even right against UNHCR advice - and then anyone who arrives from such a country is by definition denied asylum. Such "safe countries" include Iran, Northern Somalia ...

Your new law also will actually open up legal possibilities for at least highly-educated foreigners to immigrate? Thats pretty cool, too. Only way you can get into this country is through asylum, partnership with a Dutch person, or if a company guarantees you a year-long job contract even before you've arrived ... the times we live in, Walter, the times we live in <mutters>

Hmm, you really like that? (Your correct, btw.)

This is one of the most "conservative" laws in the past couple of years (actually, it's completely done by the CSU/CDU, only minor changes by the Green,my party's official opinion seems to be CDU-like as well <grrrrrrrrr>).

"the times we live in"? 6 minutes until the match starts

Well, if you compare it with the Dutch laws, you know ... Confused

I've gotten used to things being so bad here, you dont wanna know all that sounds good in comparison!

Unless I got some of the above wrong, of course! Just read this article today, recounted stuff by memory.

CLINTONISTA GANGSTERISM
i recently re-read the book "ROAD TO SARAJEVO" by (retired) canadian major-general lewis mackenzie, who served served in the united nations protection force in the balcans. he was hated so much for telling the truth that all the warring parties had a death-warrant out on him. when asked to comment on the situation in the balcans, he had two short phrases for an answer : 1)" there is enough blame to go around for everyone " and 2) "if i could convince bothsides to stop killing their own people for CNN, perhaps we could have a ceasefire". of course, this did not please any of the parties in that murderous encounter. you can read a short excerpt from his book here. perhaps you may be interested in reading his book in full. >>>THE ROAD TO SARAJEVO
