When shockwave continually crashes

I just used the word processor as my first act coming back to the computer. It failed to register the first click.

An oddity. First time in Angry Birds, after disabling the shockwave, I pulled back a bomb to fling it. I did not vary the pressure on the mouse that I could tell, but the bomb exploded in the sling. So far just that once.

@edgarblythe,
If it's the same problem that I have had with AB, I noticed that their server gets constipated and does erratic or non-responsive action issues at times. I've had something like that happen...though not too often.

I've had the bomb go off in the sling due to double-triggering of the mouse.

You have recently bought a new mouse, I seem to recall, Right?

If you're having the problem of first click non-response without being online in Word or a text editor..that is a much different matter than the other, perhaps.

I'm uncertain as to how to advise you - other than try a diff kybd.
Can you borrow another keyboard and try it (without having to purchase)?

@Ragman,
I only have the one keyboard. My wife is using a laptop.
The keyboard and mouse were bought the same day. Not top of the line. Smile

@edgarblythe,
they're fairly simple devices. I have some doubt it's them...but what do I know.>? I'm just a little bunch of typeface trapped in this box and I'm only 1/4 inch tall.

@Ragman,
I wonder how your connection is to your ISP? Is it balky or slow.... Or even to your router? if they are a bit slow or sporadic, you might have some of those issues..not all of them.

@Ragman,
I have always had a weak internet. I have been told that some locations get a weaker signal than others, depending on a number of factors. When I leave one of my email accounts, it always flashes the message at me, Check your internet connection. Buying new routers changes nothing. Changing providers changed nothing.

I can't remember if you are using XP or some other more advanced version of Windows. If XP, go to the Control Panel (accessed via Settings in your start menu) and then click on the icon for the Mouse settings. From there you will find tabs and various settings for making adjustments to how the mouse responds to you. Try making some of those adjustments to see if it improves the situation.

You can probably do the same thing in the advanced versions of Windows, but I have no clue how to talk you through to it since I have yet to use the advanced versions.

Also, if you haven't done a cold start/reboot of your computer since adding the new keyboard and mouse, you might need to do that.

If none of the above works, we will move on to seeing if the drivers for the keyboard and mouse need to be updated.

@Butrflynet,
the key question I have is this: when you bought the mouse and keyboard did you have this problem or did this situation get this way after they both were working well?

This is getting curiouser and curiouser ...

If you have Win 8, your new OS should have been plug-and-play. A
reboot theoretically should get it working again with the right drivers.

@Ragman,
Those specific things only happened after I replaced keyboard and mouse.

I clicked on the icons for mouse and then keyboard, but couldn't tell of anything needing adjusting.

@edgarblythe,
I think your kybd and mouse drivers need updating. It mystifies me why with Win 8 OS it's not happening automatically.

Typically when I buy a new device I boot up the system with the new devices connected and allow the OS to reconfigure to include the new devices.

Updating the drivers is at the very least the next step to figure out what's wrong.

I can't imagine that the kybd and the mouse are not Win * compatible. Win 8 Os should allow backwards compatibility...but not being Win8 or software guru...I'll pass on theorizing about that.

As near as I can steer you, go into the control panel to the place where driver are located and look for where the mouse and keyboard drivers are located and update them.

@edgarblythe,
ok..here's how it looks on my Win7 OS...perhaps it's similar enough where you can be helped with the procedure:

Go to Control paNEL >
hardware AND SOUND >
DEVICES AND PRINTERS >
Add a device

then see if you can add the mouse
repeat for keyboard.

@edgarblythe,
Something about the upgrade might be a little suspect. Are you using the old computer with an upgrqaded OS? Has the old machine have enough horsepower to run Win8?

When did you upgrade to 8?

Stating the obvious , there seems to be some sort of compatibility issue here.

@Ragman,
I let another person use my computer some time back. Could be a couple of years. He changed it to 8 without my knowledge. Since it kept working, I didn't make an issue of it.
I just went through the control panel to check out the mouse and keyboard. It told me right off both were working properly. But I had it check for driver upgrades. It came back that I have the proper drivers now.

@edgarblythe,
Ok.good at least the drivers are up-to-date. So assuming that part is good..my next curiosity is how well your machine is handling the heavier load from running Win 8 on an older machine.

Do you know how to look into the performance stats?

here's a wild stab in the dark. how are you doing backup. If you are backing up on your hard rive as opposed to CD or storage off your hard rive. you could be running out of space or at least dragging down the performance causing lag. Can you see how much hard drive space and memory you're using?

Win 8 was available to the public about 2 years ago. How unusual someone would change your OS without your permission. Sure hope it was a free upgrade.

Anyhow. It seemed like you said that your mouse and keyboard worked well when you bought them. Or was that not true?

I don't remember when the typing problem started. It has been doing it for some time.
I just deleted Chrome and reinstalled it. I paid System Mechanic to fix and speed up the PC and it did, except for the few things mentioned here.

shockwave crashed once yesterday and sometimes it slows down or freezes a page now. Here is what I get for shockwave

Adobe Flash Player - Version: 16.0.0.305
Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0
Name: Shockwave Flash
Description: Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0
Version: 16.0.0.305
Location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\40.0.2214.115\PepperFlash\pepflashplayer.dll
Type: PPAPI (out-of-process)
Disable
MIME types:
MIME type Description File extensions
application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash
.swf
application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player
.spl

The disable button disables the whole thing. I cut and paste the pepperflash thing into the address bar and it tells me it is allowing me to discard it. Don't know if that's permanent or until the next time.

Also, the keyboard is needing replaced for sure. Some of the keys are resisting getting pushed down, s in particular.
