Lindsey Graham's Impeachment Idea Will Make You Facepalm.

Lindsey Graham is a pathetic politician.

"Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is planning to introduce a resolution condemning the House Democrats' impeachment inquiry process and argued that any articles should be dismissed in the Senate without a trial.

"This resolution puts the Senate on record condemning the House. ... Here's the point of the resolution: Any impeachment vote based on this process, to me, is illegitimate, is unconstitutional, and should be dismissed in the Senate without a trial," Graham told Fox News's Sean Hannity."

@Real Music,
Dismissing the charges without a trial sounds like a perfect idea to me.

back in September, oralloy wrote:
My understanding is that Senate Republicans do not intend to just ignore an impeachment. Instead they are planning to have a quick vote of acquittal without any speeches if the House impeaches (perhaps even on the same day as the impeachment).

That way the matter will be over and done with, and the Democrats will not be able to grandstand on a demand that the impeachment be addressed.

Trump can then use the acquittal (and the way the Republicans treated the impeachment so dismissively) to claim that he was vindicated and there was nothing to the charges to begin with.

Trump is filling the courts with judges who believe in upholding the Constitution. The days of leftist judges issuing rulings that ignore civil liberties are at an end.

I should add: Check out Justice Kavanaugh's stirring dissent on "assault weapon bans" that he wrote when he was on the appeals court. This is a man who cares about our civil liberties.

http://prospect.org/justice/judge-kavanaugh-s-extremist-position-second-amendment/

Justice Kavanaugh will be the perfect person to write the majority ruling when the Supreme Court finally takes up the issue of "assault weapon bans".

And, just as a heads up to everyone, immediately after Justice Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court voted to take up another Second Amendment case -- not about "assault weapons bans" yet, but about the equally-important right to carry guns outside your home.

Oral arguments are scheduled for December 2nd.

Progressives are so panicked about the case that a group of leftist Senators actually issued an empty threat to the Supreme Court, telling them that they face "restructuring" if they don't drop the case without issuing a ruling.

Don't be silly. Your efforts to outlaw pistol grips on semi-auto rifles are not an attempt to reduce carnage. You're just trying to violate people's civil liberties for fun.

MontereyJack wrote:
save our courts. vote blue.

You have that backwards. Conservative judges who uphold the Constitution are no threat to our courts.

The threat to our courts is progressive judges who maliciously violate the Constitution.

@oralloy,
There are many federal courts, not just scotus, and trump and the federalist society are in fact attempting to pack them all with right wing extremisty judges. that point stands. and you still as you have been for years on this silly attempt to say its all about pistol grips rather than weapons. Dumb the first time you charged it, supremely dumb when you keep saying it.

@MontereyJack,
Your attempts to ban pistol grips are all about trying to ban pistol grips. There is nothing silly or dumb about pointing out this reality.

The fact that conservative judges believe in upholding the Constitution does not make them extremists. Judges are supposed to uphold the Constitution. It's their actual job.

when will you get it thru a skull appae=rently made of slid concrete that it ws never about pistol grips but rather sbout weapons, which makes your whole argument complete nonsense. Your cite about Kavanaugh, wherever it was, also made it clear why he should never have been confirmed, and made cleat that scalia;s ghost, wherever it may be, if you should ever come to its attention, the reaction would be, "oralloy, stfu". You're clearly far more of an absolutist on guns than he clearly would back. The liberal SC judges uphold the constitution. The conservative revisionist judges twist it out of all sensible shape.

You're playing word games. "Outlawing a gun because it has a pistol grip on it" is "outlawing pistol grips on that gun."

And when you try to pass a law that outlaws pistol grips, it's all about outlawing pistol grips.

MontereyJack wrote:

That is incorrect. Kavanaugh's support for upholding the Constitution shows that he belongs on the Supreme Court.

That is incorrect. Justice Scalia believed in upholding the Constitution too.

MontereyJack wrote:

That is incorrect. They routinely vote to allow our civil liberties to be violated.

That is incorrect. Conservative judges are the exact opposite of revisionists. They uphold the Constitution as it was originally written.

Wrong again. First, opinions cannot be correct or incorrect.

Second, I produce many posts with facts in them.

Third, there are many facts in my post that you are replying to.

It is a fact that your support for outlawing pistol grips is all about outlawing pistol grips.

It is a fact that Justice Kavanaugh believes in upholding the Constitution.

It is a fact that Justice Scalia believed in upholding the Constitution.

It is a fact that conservative judges believe in upholding the Constitution.

It is a fact that progressive justices routinely vote to allow the Constitution to be violated.

Colorado Governor Has Perfect Response After Trump Says ‘We’re Building a Wall in Colorado’
Donald Trump bragged on Wednesday that the U.S. is building a border wall in Colorado — a thing that is definitely not happening, by the way. But lucky for those left baffled by the mistake, Colorado’s governor had a pretty perfect response.

“Well this is awkward,” Gov. Jared Polis tweeted on Wednesday. “Colorado doesn’t border Mexico. Good thing Colorado now offers free full day kindergarten so our kids can learn basic geography.”

Trump’s geographical flub happened during a speech in Pittsburgh on Wednesday at an oil and gas conference. “We’re building a wall on the border of New Mexico, and we’re building a wall in Colorado. We’re building a beautiful wall, a big one that really works, that you can’t get over, you can’t get under,” Trump told a cheering crowd. “And we’re building a wall in Texas. And we’re not building a wall in Kansas but they get the benefit of the walls that we just mentioned.”

Colorado, by the way, is around 450 miles north of the border with Mexico. By comparison, the shortest driving distance between San Francisco and Los Angeles is 383 miles.

Judge Napolitano Schools ‘Fox & Friends’ on Impeachment: Schiff Just ‘Following the Rules’ Written by GOP
After Republican members of the House literally stormed the gates of the impeachment hearings on Wednesday, Judge Andrew Napolitano stopped by Fox & Friends Thursday morning to deliver a harsh wake-up call: Democrats are just “following the rules”—rules written by Republicans.

“I read the House rules,” Napolitano said. “And as frustrating as it may be to have these hearings going on behind closed doors—the hearings over which Congressman Schiff is presiding—they are consistent with the rules.”

“They can make up any rules they want?!” Brian Kilmeade replied.

Speaking more slowly, Napolitano told him, “Well, they can’t change the rules, they follow the rules.” He went to explain that those rules were last written in January 2015 when Republicans held the majority and the Speaker of the House was John Boehner.

“The rules say that this level of inquiry, this initial level of inquiry, can be done in secret,” Napolitano said, effectively dismantling the primary talking point of both Fox News and the Trump White House. “Secret evidence doesn’t work in this world, so eventually there will be a public presentation of this,” he added, “at which lawyers for the president can cross-examine these people and challenge them.”

“So I get it, the Republicans are frustrated, they wanted to make a point and they made their point, but this is just not the most effective way to show respect for what your colleagues are doing,” Napolitano said.

As the Fox & Friends hosts continued to protest, he added, “I know this is going to sound weird, these are not the impeachment hearings. The impeachment hearings have to be held in public by the House Judiciary Committee. This is the initial interview of witnesses to see what they have to say, to determine whether or not they are even worthy of presenting evidence of impeachment.”

“And they’ll continue to go on and on and on until they find something on the president, right?” Ainsley Earhardt chimed in.

“Yes, that’s what police and prosecutors do,” Napolitano explained. “They come to a conclusion that the person is probably guilty and then they look for evidence to either support or negate that. That’s what Congressman Schiff is doing and he’s following the rules—as frustrating as those rules are.”

Senate GOP blocks three election security bills for second day
Senate Republicans blocked three election security bills on Wednesday, marking the second time in as many days they've stymied legislation.

Sens. Mark Warner (D-Va.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) asked for unanimous consent to pass three election-related bills.

But they were blocked by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), who noted that the unsuccessful attempt was the latest by Democrats to pass election security bills in the Senate ahead of 2020.

“You know, it’s not a good sign if you’re doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result," Blackburn said.

Under Senate rules, any one senator can ask to vote on or pass a bill. But because it requires unanimous support, any one senator can also block their requests.

Election security has become a point of contention during the Trump era. House Democrats have passed several election-related bills, including a sweeping ethics and election reform measure, but they've hit a wall in the GOP-controlled Senate.

Warner, the vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, tried to pass legislation that would require campaign officials to report contacts with foreign nationals who are trying to make donations or coordinate with the campaign to the Federal Election Commission, which would notify the FBI.

“The alarm bells are going off and what are we doing? We’re running out of time to do something about it," Warner said from the Senate floor.

Warner added that if a foreign government offers to interfere to help a campaign "the appropriate response is not to say thank you. The appropriate response is to call the FBI."

House Democrats are in the middle of an impeachment inquiry focused on President Trump asking Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, and whether or not he held up aid to try to build pressure.

Klobuchar, a 2020 White House hopeful and the top Democrat on the Rules Committee, on Wednesday tried to pass legislation requiring campaigns to report “illicit offers” of election assistance from foreign governments or individuals to both the FBI and the Federal Election Commission, and take steps to ensure that political advertisements on social media are subject to the same stricter rules as ads on television or radio.

"It’s about protecting our election hardware and infrastructure but it is also about protecting us from this disinformation campaign, all of this really bad stuff," Klobuchar said.

The legislation, known as the SHIELD Act, is expected to get a vote in the House on Wednesday.

Wyden, meanwhile, tried to pass legislation, known as the SAFE Act, that would authorize more funding for the Election Assistance Commission and includes language that would ban voting machines from being connected to the internet and being produced in foreign countries.

Blackburn also objected to that bill.

“I just find it stunning that the Republican Party continues its wall-to-wall campaign of obstruction against election security," Wyden countered.

Comment:
Republicans will regret this move when China and most of the rest of the world throw their financial resources and hacking capabilities behind Joe Biden or any of the other democratic challengers.

There are more world leaders against Trump than for him and two can play this game of election interference.

The difference is, the democrats won't have to generate "fake news" to disgrace Trump.

@TheCobbler,
1. Yo cannot specifically name any corruption. You know, Like Schiff for brains getting up and quoting a conversation that NEVER HAPPENED. Or Biden's son WITH NO KNOWLEDGE OR EXPERIENCE getting deals after accompanying his dad to China and Ukrain THAT'S CORRUPTION.
2. "Social justice and equality" nice buzzwords that don't mean crap. I am middle class and have seen my job opportunities increase, home increase in value, 401 K skyrocket. Liberals want equality of outcome but could care less about effort, knowledge, skills or work ethic. So please define your buzzwords more specifically if you want to make any sort of real argument. Otherwise you are just a pathetic whiner.
3. You definitely are a good example of how education has failed so I agree with part of that premise.
4. More name calling, really? BTW. I lived through 5 or 6 different claims about how we are all doomed, from ozone depletion, to next ice age, to global warming. So, science deniers. Should read more that liberals and activists are science liars. Expect me to believe some model that has been wrong even after the data was manipulated or I am a science denier but then claim there are 172 genders. X Y Chromosome sound familiar. So deny science when it fits your mental condition but claim others are science deniers. Google Ice core stusies, solar minimum and maximum and othewr REAL SCIENCE. Liberals always accuse the others of what they are doing. Just look at the russia collusion hoax based on GUESS WHAT? Lies bought by hillery FROM RUSSIAN SOURCES. Or how about now Ukrain Collusion HEN BIDEN IS ON TAPE BLACKMAILING UKRAIN WITH TAXPAYER DOLLARS.
5. WE DON"T LIVE IN A DEMOCRACY !!!!!! WE LIVE IN A
CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC !!!!!!
See how I mention specific examples and references to support an opinion. That is called critical thinking. You should try it

Repubs had many closed door meetings themselves, and repubs on the relevant committees now get equal time in quizzing witnesses, soo they're hardly excluded from the ongoing process.
