Soft lime green sounds nice.
Fashion question -- the capris I bought have drawstrings at the hem. At the store, though, the hem was straight (not crinkled/ drawn) with the strings (fabric ribbon actually) dangling. How are they supposed to be worn? As-is (straight, dangling?) Tie the dangles? Draw the hem tighter?
(I know, I know, the correct answer is "do whatever you darn well please", just wondering what was intended/ what the style is. I mean, ehBeth is reading magazines with lots of orange and everything...)
The fashionistas in our office (and we have quite a squad of them) are wearing them with the ties either untied and dangly, or tied but not tightened. If tied, they are worn (to a woman) with platform sandals that lace up the leg. And if your hair isn't black already - dye it black - have it blunt cross about 3 inches below the shoulder - and wear it very very very straight (spend a lot of time straightening it every morning) and tied back loosely with a ribbon (no bow) that doesn't co-ordinate with anything.
We had four of them in this uniform today - it is a great look as long as you don't look like you're part of a girl band when you're standing with your co-workers. The only variant was one who has the top half of her hair dyed blonde, the next quarter red, and the underneath quarter black (I love that!).
See, I knew I could count on ehBeth! Thanks!
I'll pass on the hair-straightening thing, tho.
You're welcome to the teal-turquoise thingy, ehBeth! Yes, it does work well. The turquoise jewelry is just a brighter version of teal.
(Did I mention that the kilim belt is in shades of teal & brown? I had all these pieces in my closet from years past and just today figured out that they go together well. Don't you love it when that happens?!)
A rust color shirt, fine merio wool trousers in grey (it is cold today), a DKNY watch and black shoes
Denim slim fit capris
White undershirt, spaghetti strapped, no shelf
White stretch cotton blouse, two buttons buttoned
White ankle socks
White Nike walking shoes (New! Very white!)
Mascara, A little Clinique men's bronzer on the cheeks, lip balm
Wedding bands (one mine, yellow gold; one my husband's grandmother's, white gold...very, very thin)
Elegant, G. Very nice.
I had a funeral to go to this morning. Long slinky black tank dress & collarless jacket (acetate & spandex travel knits, lovelovelove 'em!) with a heavy silver belt & chunky silver & copper necklace. Very subdued.
A pair of short and a t-shirt.
So, I spent hours yesterday looking for tops to go with the orange pants. It was exhausting. But, I have this combo for my efforts - thanks for the help (I just got my digi camera working, weee!)
Wow, that's a big image.... and not so flattering. But, nice colors, eh?
What do you mean it's not flattering? I think it's a nice pic ;-)
You're gonna love that camera Littlek ;-)
Oh, and I'm still in my PJ's.
Thanks Montana. I already do love it. Instant gratification.
The colours are good and you look divine !
Kinda melon salad-y!
Do you still have the linen pieces from Cape Cod?
Beth, yep, I still have them, but I don't wear them often. I love linen, especially now that it's cheaper and machine washable (which I don't even take advantage of).
Beige crocheted dress, rhinestone tiara, silver slave bracelet.
I'm going cherry picking this weekend, and need some suggestions re: proper attire. I was thinking of a construction worker's outfit, for the pun value, and the red clown nose, for colour.
littlek, very nice!! I love 3/4 sleeve shirts. There's something inherently elegant about them.
I'm wearing one now; it has a light green floral print on it (actually reverse, white flowers with green outlines and green background), and I'm wearing it with the garnet-y linen capris. Not an optimal combo, but not too bad, and our washing machine isn't hooked up yet so my choices are way limited. (Gonna just go to the laundromat tomorrow for the first time in forever. Useta spend a LOT of time in laundromats.)
Thanks Soz. Color combos (green shirt, red pants)are good on different levels. Sometimes it's fun to have high-contrast colors and sometimes to have complimentary colors.
The pants are more... i've got it... berry. They have a purplish tone without being purple. It looked better than I expected with the light green.
Straight-up green and red would be too Christmasy, I think, though graphically I do like a clear spring green with a darkish red.
