Bisque sounds nice. Some purples might look nice too, going for a sunset look with the orange. Linen is a good fabric; the texture keeps colors from looking too bold if you don't want them to. Origami paper color ideas: cute concept.

well, I have a lot of origami.

Sunset colors: maybe light teal. Too bad yellow doesn't look good on me.

Black pants with lace bands at the hem.
White 3/4 sleeve shirt with bands of lace from just below the shoulder to neck.
Black sweater (it's cold in here)
Black and yellow neoprene sandals - I can't be bothered to put my 'nice' shoes on today.

Orange looks great with a tan. You could maybe even get away with shades -- light orange shirt with dark orange pants.

Gap has cheap tanks for layering in good colors, that'd be another way to go -- orange underlayer, then blue or olive green or red or white or any number of possible overlayers.

(I just got an orange all-in-one tank and am figuring out the orange thing, too. I've worn it under a deep watermelon pink linen tunic with orange embroidery and olive green/ khaki capris -- not a color combination I'd expect to like, but it worked.)

ohhhhhh, and the what goes with orange question

why, just about everything!

ok, never mind that.

On the way home I was reading a mag that showed a lot of orange clothing for this summer - they were all in combo with what I'd consider melon colours - yellows, light greens, lots of shades of pink and orange. Looked nice, if shockingly non-black.

Snort! (I DO learn eventually)

What an image. Laughing

Orange is good again...not just for clothes...I'm considering a kind of muted, milky pumpkin as a wall colour.

I'm thinking of a very orangey stain for my stairs - the colour old maple boards are when they're wet.

I saw orange all over town today. It seems to be a color people don't actually try to match. I like orange and hot pink together, but these pants are a slightly burnt orange, like cayenne pepper. So, I started thinking of indian spices: tumeric, cayenne, coriander and herbs like cilantro etc. So, yeah, earthy yellow, beige and leaf green. I can't really wear beige or yellow though.

I like the idea of layering tanks, Soz. Thanks! I also have been most leaning toward monochromatic, or the same famly of colors. Pale orange, peach, (very very soft) yellow.

LittleK,

Working on the back entryway, I wore a black sports bra under an open blue gingham camp shirt, blue jeans and brown work clogs. Later, IO wore an ice pack on my left leg, where I'd scraped it falling off of the ladder. That step was not only a surprise, but slightly painful. Sad

Sam played doctor and I'm feeling better now. I'm hoping for a closer exam by her tonight.

A tiny bit because of this color conversation -- I like color by golly by gum -- I bought some, (um, maroon sounds awful, garnet! garnet's better) linen capris today. Nice deep saturated color.

That's a step Sozobe!

I've come so far that I prolly have worn black only once or twice in 2 weeks (besides the flipflops). Today I received, from ebay, 3 lined linen skirt: light pink, dark pink, and dark purple. I really wanted the dark purple, Maybe I'll make pillows out of the other 2.

I'm dressed like a watermelon now. Pink knit capris, a soft lime green terry collared t, pink fleece vest. I'm sort of testing the t to see if I could tolerate wearing it to work tomorrow. We've got our company harbour cruise, and I need to dress a bit more casually than i normally would.

but soft lime green?

oooooooh, good idea, Eva. Teal blue with turquoise.

I just got a new teal blue linen tunic. Wear it with turquoise jewelry! I'm stealing that one.

littlek - I wear black and black, black and grey, black and white, occasionally black and white with pink accents, to work - week after week after week (it helps me stay invisible, Rolling Eyes ). The pale lime green is very out of character for my work wardrobe. I may just step over that colour line and go for it. Who knows - the teal blue tunic may make it to work as well!
